Need Advice

Actually a 2nd coat of BH prolly would have gotten rid of 99.8% of the swirls.

You may want to try 2 more coats of BH and then some more exp.

As far as your wife getting ready to chke you...... I can relate. (and it will get worse too) I can tell you that when you do your wife's car, it will ease some. The day I knew I was ok, was the day she asked me to do her car cuz it was dirty.

Do not let Steve know your wife's schedule. He knows when my wife is gonna be home and somehow he makes sure the stuff gets here when she is here. He likes to stoke the fire. :lmfao

Back to the car...... If you want, throw some Natty's Blue wax on it too. That will cover some of the swirls as well. It also adds a "rich glow" to it. mmmmmmmm

This was going to be my suggestion on covering up the swirls until you can do the corrective work in the spring. PB Black Hole is a great product for that and WILL increase that wet look on that paint. You can just top that off with a sealant, wax or both:D

Okay, I should have listened to you guys and applied 2 more coats of BH and then EXP. I only applied another coat of EXP and well....in the garage it looks good, but once I have it outside and the sun is directly on the car, swirls galore :wall I also see slight holograms. I must face the fact that my car is in bad shape and I don't think anything I put on by hand will make much of a significant difference given the situation.

Wait till your next wash and see if the holograms go away.

They may not be true holograms at all. Mebbe the EXP curing weird due to humidity, etc.

Relax and enjoy the addiction.

So I just got back from the dealer to have my winter shoes installed. I talked to them about "correcting" my paint finish. Guess what their solution was....WET SAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just about ran out of there. I told the SM it just needs someone who knows what they are doing and remove a small layer of cc to even out the swirls. Or am I missing something????

I'm too tired.

Run, run away fast. Do not let them touch your paint. Do not let them collect $500.

Just throw 2 coats of BH by hand, then re-seal.

Promise, it'll look good. then Mebbe eve a coat of Natty's blue.

Then worry about it in spring. Enjoy the car.

I know Ron, I'm beating a dead horse:surrender
I think we all can agree to put a period on this thread and for me to move on. Even I am getting tired :passout:

I didn't mean getting tired of this thread.
I meant tired, as in I worked on the ambulance overnight and we got slammed. 7 calls in one overnight, too much for an old goat like me.

Kief, I noticed in the pics that the car is in a garage, If this is eating at your serenity (as it seems to be) maybe the solution here is....why wait until springtime? Do you have any objection to me doing the work in your garage? Is it a bad time financially? (holidays) Just a thought, if you want it done sooner just give me a call or email to arrange the right time and I'll come over and take care of it for you. I have a 4 day weekend starting wednsday night. You can be as involved in the job as you like. Just a thought. TD

That'll kill 2 birds.
1. Get the car looking like you want it to.
2. Learning

Kief, the only thing I can tell you is have plenty of hot dogs and wasabi sauce.

Eating at my serenity....no, not me!
The reason I wanted to wait was b/c of the winter and I'll be driving the car at times--thus the reason for putting on my winter shoes (pics included). But Dave, I do appreciate you offering to help me sooner which would probably save my marriage as well :lmfaoBTW, I also PM'd Redwings97 and told him how highly you speak of him and he had nothing but positive things to say about you as well. I jokingly told him I might need both of you guys to correct my finish given the severity. He said he would enjoy working with you if he is still in the area next year. Apparently they may be moving to Texas.

No problem! Should I get some for you? I've gotten you so involved in this, maybe you should come down and we can have a mini car clinic. Perhaps PB would want to sponsor :bigups

Hopefully he is planning something for spring. Should be an easy drive for you. Biggest problem is afterward, you don't want to drive the car cuz it's so nice.

Kief,,,,,,

When you post pics like that be prepared to get yelled at like I do.
Hint: (wheel wells)

My 1st question is did the dealer in fact buff your car with a wool pad ? Dealer detail shops are very good at having in experienced wheel guys. which is problem one.
2. I wouldn't waste my time with the dealer fixing it, however you should speak with the Service Director and tell him you want it resolved. If your friend Dave can eventually rectify the problem for you, then let him. Present the Bill to the dealership and let them pay for what they cannot do in house.
I provide this service for dealerships in my city for when their people do a whack job on a customer's new car.
The BMW color Black Sapphire in my opinion is a beautiful color, however much harder to keep up than just Black. It always appears hazy unless you keep it polished at least 2 times a month.
My advice, Since you have a good report with your dealer they need to Pony Up for the screw up.

We will let him slide until spring on the wheel wells Ron!!;) Kief, You are welcome, anytime you are ready you just let me know, in the meantime if you have questions or just want to chat don't be shy.

Keif........... what you are doing here is prolonging or covering up your problem. to properly remove your swirls, you will need to re cut the car with compound such as 3m perfectic 2, with a speed buffer to remove the micro scratches , then follow up with a compound polish that you like, then a sealer. You have to remove a scratch with another scratch and then blend it all together. layers of polish and wax will only intensify your problem.

I have so much to learn....teach me Yoda!

Thanks Dave!

My advice to you is forget about the Stealership. They can never do anything right. If you have the time on your hands pick up and Griot Garage PC or Porter Cable XP from Auto Geek with various LC pads and your choice of compounds and polishes and correct it yourself. If you feel like you cannot do it or will lice someone else to correct it find a good detailer to correct it. Sign up on Autogeekonline Auto Detailing Forum and start a thread titled I need a Good detailer in ...? You should find one in no time.
