buying PC to Aus, worth it?

Hi all,

Have seriously thought about buying a PC 7424XP, the only problem is I'm in Australia and no places seem to stock or even know about it here. Anyway, I can order it through different sites, but the postage itself is the same price as the PC (lol).

My question is - is it worth that double amount considering all the use I'll get out of it? I can imagine using it would be much more efficient than by hand, and you could use swirl removers etc which would also be quite tricky by hand.

What do people think?
 
Can you get a Flex 3401 in your country and how much more would it be then the 7424XP? If the price isn't that much more I would buy the Flex. It's well worth the extra money.
 
we here in the USA use 120volts at 60 hertz for our house current electricity. Is it the same there in Austrailia? Steve from Poorboys world had linked someone in Austrailia to a site over there that handled his product line, that site carried a polisher that was very similar to the PC. As I recall that site was showing that polisher as being 230 volts. You may want to research that a little. I have not yet seen a PC online that runs on 230 volts.

You may want to check out Cyclo Toolmakers the cyclo polisher is a dual head polisher(uses two 4 inch pads instead of one larger pad) the quality of a cyclo will surely outlast any other polisher on the market but it is a bit of a heavy machine and costs about $100 more than a PC and and uses 4" pads that can be harder to come by. I do know for sure that a cyclo can be ordered in a 230 volt model. I do own a cyclo polisher and can tell you that is a top quality, very well built machine. One of it's selling points is that there are still some 50 year old cyclos still in use today and a total parts inventory is available to completely rebuild the machine. The cyclo has lots and lots of power and does a better job at correcting paint than the PC, but again it is a bit heavy and limited to the use of 4" pads only.

If I lived in austrailia and was considering the purchase of a cyclo, I would order the ultimate cyclo kit that comes with a bunch of extra pads and the brushes for cleaning carpet too. I would also order an additional cyclo accessory kit that comes with an additional array of pads and accessories. (one shippment expense) if you ordered all of this you would be set for years to come.

The down side of my suggestion would be the initial expense as the cost would be very high. Both kits combined from We Are Car Care -- Car Wax, Car Polish, Auto Detailing Supplies, Car Buffers & Car Accessories Store would cost around $529 plus shipping. As stated before you would be set for years to come though with a very reliable machine and plenty of pads and accessories.

My other suggestion would be to PM poorboy and ask him for that link to his Austrailian distributor as they have a polisher similar to the pc for about $250 I personally know nothing of it's quality though. Hope this helps. TD
 
yeah waxits machine is called a das-6 its european designed chinese copy of porter cable ,,,,i just bought 1 from waxit .com ,,,,,,top machine very happy
