Polishing/Waxing 06 black Mustang Tomorrow

need advice on a method of attack for a black 06 stang with 40k's

apparently bad swirls and scratches from being a neglected lease return car.

the customer is picky about his cars being waxed and shiny

i have the following in my possession

pc7424
4 inch PFW, yellow, orange, white LC flat pads
6.5inch LC CCS orange, blue, white and black pads

M105
PB ssr2.5
PB Pro Polish
Menz finishing glaze

P21s paste wax
NXT2.0
optimum car wax


can someone doctor me up a method of attack i should start with ? based on no pictures as of yet .

i will be most likely doing this car tomorrow
 
Always do a test panel, start with the least aggressive pad/polish combo and work up from there. That bein said I have had great success lately with 4" orange pads and m105. I do not know much about Pro Polish, is that a finishing polish? If so finish with that. Then NXT 2.0, buff off with a few spritz of OCW.

yah so i should perhaps start with SSR2.5 and orange pads then work up to say M105 and my 4 inch PFW pad on the high end of the scale ?
 
picking the vehicle up tomorrow morning and i only have until 330pm

eg 9am to 330pm which gives me about 6 hours to do a full exterior wash/polish/wax .

i definately dont want to have to do the whole car with a 4 inch pad or that would take forever. definately doors and hood i will use the 6.5 inch orange pad and probably M105 to get quick results and then take more time on the trunks and handles and doors with both sizes .

hoping to get a good result and if i can do my van in 4 hours i think i can do a mustang in 4 hours ...
 
it's prob a 3 year lease and the car has prob seen about 20-30 car washes.

I would do a test panel with 2.5 and a polishing pad. if that doesn't do it use orange pad then follow with a polishing pad. then pp, then wax.

never used Menz finishing glaze you may want to do this in stead of wax if it's going back right away.
 
6 hours will be pushing it for anything more than a 1 step polish.

It doesn't look like you have a finishing polish listed...what are you planning to follow M105 or SSR2.5 with?

i was thinking M105 then go to the Menzerna finish glaze then a good layering of NXT2.0 then when i deliver to customer wipe down with OCW

it was a 3 year lease indeed and it was purchased for the customers wife and i just have to polish and wax it to make it look better and shinier and give it some protection to the elements ...

I don't believe the Menz finishing glaze has much if any cut at all. M105 is an aggressive compound that should always be followed up with a lesser polish. I'm not familiar with the SSR2.5 and how well it finishes down though...maybe others could chime in.

If it were me I would go and pick up some SwirlX to follow up with if you decide to go with M105. :bigups

2.5 fnishes really well. Easy to use that stuff with no micromarring if used correcty. I would follow it with the Pro polish with a white pad, or even a black pad depending on what you used the 2.5 on. Like others have said, do a small test area. Throw some 2.5 on a white pad, go over it at the speed and duration you normally would, and see if it's what you're looking for. If not (and I'll bet you will need to) step up to the orange pad and try afain on another small area. Then go over the better of the two areas with what you think will finish well; i.e. Pro polish w/ white pad or with black pad. I'd guess white, as I did a black 04 'stang and used 2.5 w/ orange pad and then SSR1 w/a white pad then PWS on a black pad and it came out stellar. I did a really bad black 97 Cobra too, with 2.5 on orange and went right to PWC on a white pad and it worked great too.

Thanks! I've not use any of the PB polishes yet. When you say it finishes of very well are we talking LSP ready, or well enough to be followed with a light polish like SSR1?

apparently ssr2.5 is about a 6 to a 7 tops on the aggressive scale and M105 is about a 9 to 9.5

but i think i need something rated at about a 2-4.5 level ... and pro polish is probably right at a two i believe i could be wrong but i like the product !

I think the 2.5 is definitely able to be followed by an LSP. Just went outside about an hour ago to fix some scratches on the Subie with a 4" orange pad and it's perfectly glossy with no evidence of micromarring. I've followed it with PWC and PWS on multiple occasions with great results as well.
 
ok so heres what ive done to the hood **** and its a fusion NOT a mustang sigh

one pass 4 inch orange pad w m105
one pass m105 PFW 4 inch pad
one pass SSR2.5 yellow 4 inch pad

AND THERES STILL UGLY MARKS AND FINE SCRATCHES I CANNOT FEEL WITH MY FINGERNAIL AS WELL AS MINOR SWIRLING STILL THERE ...

how can i correct this ...

im going to most likely be glazing then LSPing cuz its not ready for an LSP after ssr 2.5 thats for sure ...
 
i ended up doing two passes on the sides and 4 passes on the hood, 3 passes on the trunk and 2 passes on front and rear bumpers ..

all with M105 and then polished with pro polish and topped with NXT then delivered to customer and wiped down with OCW and UQDT :) ..

took six hours to complete and took in 90 bucks and coulda charged more but i wasnt 100% satisfied as if i had a whole 9 hours to polish it i coulda got more scratches out but the thing had been clearly abused for 3 years of dealership swirlotrons and non touchfree car washings it was a bloody mess but i restored the shine about 90% and took off about 80% of light scratches and it reflected very well when finished !

i need a makita ill be brutally honest although learning on a small machine is good for the person i think i can handle the makita on my first try ...
