Problems with Megs "Ultimate" Compound..

rise and *shine*
I was interested to know if anyone else here has had the same problem with this product?

About a month ago, i used the megs ultimate compound and was ecstatic with the results.. it took out all fine scratches, marring and swirls that were on my car. i used it with a pc 7424 and a lake country 6.5 in flat pad. also with a 7.5in ccs curved edge pad, both were the orange pads.. like i said the product worked out really well and finished the job rather quickly which was nice.. i was able to go right to applying a sealant, it came out that good.

Problem: about 2 days ago i went to use this stuff again on a different car and truck and it came out of the bottle as a pure liquid, it was like water, now when i got it, it was thick and creamy, i stored the product in a cool place in between usage and it was sealed and closed up, so nothing could have got in there..

I just dont understand why this product just turned to water, i still used it and it still worked, but it was like compounding with water and slinging was very hard to avoid.. the results again were still top notch, but it took alot of extra time to work with this product because i didnt want to make a mess with it.

Any one else come across this same issue????

I've heard this on several occasions. Not sure what's going on with the product. Mine has not done this so far and I've not taken any special care to keep it at any certain temperature.

I've had mine just about 90 days now, but I'll keep an eye out for this.

yea i shook the compound up like crazy and it did nothing at all, that was the first thing i did cause i figured that would definitely fix the problem.. i wonder if megs is aware of this.. i mean overall i think its a great product, it definitely does the job if the car isnt to trashed.. even with the pc it works pretty fast.

have you opened it and used it yet?

I bought it to use on my own car. So I used it the weekend I bought it. I then transferred some into a yorker bottle. I've used it on several cars since then, including 2 this past weekend (over a month later).

Consistency of the product was still the same as when I bought it.

hmmm.. thats interesting, maybe i got a bad batch of it..
i just ordered some of the pb ssr2.5, i want to give that a shot, hopefully i will get the same results as the ultimate compound, i am assuming the results will be even better. atleast i know that product wont tun to liquid..

how did the megs ultimate compound work out for you? did you like it?

thank you, i just put it in my contacts on my cell phone, i might call them on my lunch break and ill let you know what goes down, if not ill give em a call later.. thanks again!

I don't believe SSR2.5 has as much cut as Megs UC, but I could be wrong. Megs UC worked beautifully for me. So much so in fact, that I have not ordered any other compounds to this point. I think I will order some M105 and SSR3 just to have around, but I hope I won't need them for any car I am doing!

I bought some this weekend got to the customers house opened it and it was like cottage cheese, so I shook it up really good and still the same. I used it anyway on the vehicle and it worked ok. I was going to take it back to the store after I used it but then forgot.

yeah i wanna try this ultimate stuff for sure ...

i now have M105, PB ssr 2.5, PB pro polish and menz finish glaze

im assuming ultimate compound is in the middle of m105 and 2.5 correct ? from threads ive read around the web ...

anyone compared the two products ?

UC is a bit on the runny side, especially compared to SwirlX. I've used it on two cars, a black Honda (BC/CC) and my Suzuki (SS) and it worked great.

BTW...expect NO hassles with Megs CS

Called them up and they said they have received a few calls with the same issue. I asked if it was a bad batch or something and he said that it is a natural product that breaks down sometimes. Anyway said they would send out a new bottle.

:rockon

You gotta love their CS!

i just called them today.. they told me they would send me a small package with the ultimate compound and a few other things... very nice of them.. i would have to say that the ultimate compound works quicker and is a bit stronger than the pbssr2.5. i tried the 2.5 out the other day and it didnt cut nearly as fast as the ultimate compound.

I bought a bottle of UC from Amazon and it arrived with a watery consistency yet had never been opened. Meg's sent me a replacement bottle after I called them.
If you're looking to buy a bottle OTC, check out the bottle first. The UC's that became watery had an effect on the unopened bottle. Those bottles appear and feel fat, as if pressurized. Those bottles feel like they're about to explode from internal pressure.
The bottles with the normal consistency, (lotion-like, when shaken), are slim and pliable.

I also had a bottle of UC that was bad . I called customer service and they said that they would send me out a new bottle. You get great service from Meguiars.
