So I did something really stupid...

Was backing out of my driveway today, my wife had used the car previously and I was adjusting the sideview mirror, and I scraped the rear quarter of my car with the metal mailbox. :wall I was so pissed. The driveway is sort of on a curve and I just went straight. :hmmm:

So anyway, the scratches are pretty deep I can really catch them with my nail. I don't know if they are down to metal. They are showing white. I assume I will need like an DeWalt 849 or something to even try and fix this? Or would PB SSR3 and LC Orange cut pad be enough?

:help:

:thanks D

what products do you have to work with?

If you can catch em with your nail, it may need to be wet sanded, but I'll defer to Steve.

I have SSR1, 2.5 & 3, Pro Polish
That's it for polishing. But I will buy whatever I need.

try some SSR2.5 by hand with a cotton towel rubbing back and forth with the scratch ... that will clean it up so you can make a better assessment of where you are at ..rub vigorously until it turns clear and then buff off the residue...

Ok, so I did what you suggested, started coming down a bit so I took the LC Orange pad and the 2.5 and went to town. I brought some of it down, but I think the rest is too deep. Here are some pics, to get better detail pics, you can use this link dbinaz : photos : 2008 Grand Prix : SONY DSC

Had to remove the pinstripe cause scratch was going right through it.

I don't think it would be worth the claim since my deductible would prolly be more than the paint job. Maybe I can get it airbrushed?

ok, so looks like it would have to go under collision and not comp, so I would have to pay $500. So forget that.
I am trying to find a mobile paint repair company but having a hard time, not sure what to search for. Anyone know of any out Greensboro, NC or know what to search for in google?

Thanks,
Derek

check with the used car dept of a local dealer...they usually know and use someone ;)

Having investigated thousands of motor vehicle traffic accidents, I have examined this case and find it to be a clear cut case of vandalism, thereby qualifying you for zero deductible insurance coverage under your comprehensive policy provisions.

The suspect is a mailbox of interest, 12 yoa, 3'6", thin build, silver with a red flag, bearing a faded tattoo that reads "US Mail". The US Mail gang, aka USPS, aka Snail Mail is a notoriously incompetent nationwide group of petty thieves. The gang leader is a middle-aged fat blonde woman, street name: SlowerThanSnot, with a lousy attitude and gruff voice . Bag men  working for the gang drive unwaxed right-hand drive POS Jeep lookin' things, driving dangerously slow and frequently leaving the roadway.

Rival Gang, UPS, aka Brown  ...

All right, back to work! Why are you fools reading this crap?

:D
