We'll after living hear for 3 years I finally got around to plumbing my garage for air. I used 1/2 pvc with lots of corners, tees, etc. I also installed a regulator so I can adjust the pressure, a air filter to remove any water from the air, and a main shut off along with a shut off for each air line. I also was able to plumb my retractable air line in so that I no longer have to unplug something else to use it. So I essentially have air ready to go at anytime without having to pull anything out or hook anything up, I have my air nozzle attached to it at all times. Here are some pics of the finished job.

This is the far right side of the shop.
I am thinking next weekend I am going to add another hook up over my bench and hook up one of those pre coiled hoses with a bungee so I can have an air line that I can pull down when I need it and let go of it when I don't and have it pull back up to the bottom of my cabinets. I know it is hard to visualize, I will post pics when it is done.
