burn out rubber in wheelwell,, how to remove?

I had my Challenger worked on and before they delivered it back to me someone did a massive burn out and the rubber gunk is coated in the wheel wells. I managed to use some bug and tar remover to get about 80% of it off but there is still some that I just cant get off. I used a clay bar to get the minor bits off the paint. but the wheel well liner is fubar,,Anyone know of a product that will help get this crud off :help:

I think they did it because the car is supposed to be in Mopar Muscle magazine and may have wanted to get a smokin tire pic. I havnt called them yet cause I really dont know what good it will do.
Anyway I need to get this stuff out of the wheelwells.

:cool:You gotta be kiddin me.:hotrod2:I would be on tha phone to the Editor of Rag givig him this:rant:Anyway I can't think of name of product right off but check with a "SPEED SHOP" or Troy@ Detailcity or Steve @ Poorboy's World. They will be along soon to help.I use a solvent to clean tar off tha vehicles I work on. You also may have to use a puddy knife to remove excess rubber before you can tackle tha surfface.Man what kinda DUFFUSS did you hand your keys to? Someone should lose there job over this. And at the very least they should pick up tab for 1st class detail.If you need someone to write a receiept for you I got your back.That is 1 of the most unprofessional things I've ever heard of, I'm pissed and I don't even know you...Good Luck & Happy Easter:bow:jesus P.S. You are gonna need to spray solvent several times and let it sit & soak. You also may want to do this job @ your mother-n-laws, cuz it's gonna make 1 HELLAVA mess.

Hmm I had this happen to our 06 Mustang a couple years back when we took it in for a warranty repair. I got the car home to clean it up and found rubber all over the rear quarters. Needless to say I was pissed off to no end. What on earth gives someone the idea that it is OK to abuse someone else's car. At the very least I would expect they give you some free stuff or make them pay for new tires.

I'm sure they think it's funny.Not only would I call General Manager. I would also call Regional Rep and demand for someones Head to Roll:chop:chop:chop... Let them see how funny tha unemployment line is.:cool::wall:wall:wall:passout:

If that was my car I would not clean it, I would have them clean it.
It would be easy to get in their to clean because they could clean while the wheels were off getting the new tires that they would be putting on.

If they didn't agree to do that then they could argue with my lawyer.

I see you live in Indiana where did you take the car. I would like to know if that place is close to me.

If that happened to me I would be 7 kinds of pissed off. :mad:

As Steve said bug squash or lacquer thinner I did a track car some years back and use LT and it melted off
 
I'm surprised you haven't been back to the shop to womp on someone for abusing your car .....i wouldn't let it out of my sight again ...i have a very fast car and it gets worked on while i wait and it spends the night at home every night ...when it goes in for paint next year it will get disabled ,,, i would just add some rubber of my own :bigups...they would be buying me a brand new set of tires ....take pictures and take them to court ...contact the BAR and better business bureau
 
They did a fair amount of work, including new heads,cam,headers,torque converter, custom tune in addition to the few things I had already done. The called me as they were starting the job and asked me if I cared if they used it in a article for MoparMuscle mag about the head/cam package and I agreed. He mentioned the burnout for the pics and I didnt have a problem with it but they really must have done a smoker. I told them I plan on getting new Invo tires this summer anyway cause the Goodyears suck.
Its back there now anyway as the Precision Industries converter developed a leak and they are putting in a new one. No burnouts this time.
FYI the car now dynos 440+RWHP which is probably well over 500 at the crank Id say 520ish but it all comes down to the ET and trap speed.:bigups
Looking for a stang and new ugly camaro to spank!
 
If you're looking for a stang make sure you look up one of the new Shelby's. You'll know how quick your car is after that.
 
I've had much experience with this, especially with my old Z28 and my buddy's 9 second LS1 Z28 that he never washes....a Pinnacle Safe Scrub pad and DP Cleanse-All usually makes quick work of it.

Im gonna see how we stack up! My car has a tad more weight that I would have liked but Gts and GT500s should be intersting. The shelbys are such a limited # of cars that are so heavily modified Id have to add a Techo to (and may next summer) to make that even. :crazy2:

I made my above post with a bit of a smile having ridden in one a few weeks back. I have a friend who is the kind of person that if it is or has been made by Ford he's either had or has it. He has an Auto Repair shop and has been in business for 30 some years. I used to run around with him a lot when I had a few Mach 1's.

Currently he personally owns a Ford GT (not Mustang, one of the first kids on the block for this $200,000 car), 70 Mach 1, 2 - Saleens and 2 - 2009 Shelby's, a couple of bikes, snowmobiles, boat and the list goes on. Of course nothing he owns is as it came from the factory. He and his son have a local race team and run straight line and road courses. Yes, he thrashes the GT, it has an upgraded blower and exhaust good for over 750 h.p. He purchased this car in Texas and has it documented at over 210 m.p.h. on an airport runway. He said he ran out of runway before the car was finished doing what it was capable of doing. He took me for a ride in his new Shelby the other day that he had made some blower pulley mods on. This is a KR with a Super Snake package, 700 h.p. version as delivered. He claimed it also has over 750 h.p. I've owned 10 second high altitude cars and I've driven 1800 h.p. sand dragsters, I'm not easily impressed. I can't say whether this Shelby actually puts down that kind of h.p. but suffice it to say I was amazed. It felt as strong as the GT.
