Best Drying Tools?

Just wanted to get an ideas of what everyone is using for drying and if they have compared products. When I started detailing, I was drying with terrycloth towels. I never liked animal skin chamois - no moral issue here - just never thought they dried all that great. I found The Absorber in Wal Mart in 2004 and have stayed with it ever since. But they actually seem to vary in effectiveness from unit to unit. I've had some that dried great and others that left noticably more water behind. I use smaller MF towels for interior cleaning and wax removal, but have not yet sprung for a big MF towel to dry with - I see a lot of you posting that MF is what you dry with. I have also seen a bit about the Waffle Weave towels. Can anyone give me a comparison to other materials?

Of course, if the car was waxed with SUPER-GLAZE, the water rolls off spot free just by me looking at it!!! :rofl (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)

i use the standard chamois for a few quick passes to get the water mostly removed, then go to my MF cloth for a final drying, then of course more MF's for when i remove my wax/polishes! cheers !

Well i do not like to drag anything across my paint (chamois) so i use S+G and a WW towel the spray and gloss lubricates the towel and then a gentle wipe with the ww will suck up all the water. I can use one ww towel for my entire truck (07 F-150 supercab). I would suggest using WW's.

What would you like us to compare

Well, I guess it would be artificial chamois (like the Absorber) vs MF vs WW Towel (which I have NO experience with) vs any other favorite product you may have. And no, I am not pushing any particular product myself. Just trying to figure out if there is something out there that can do it better than I am doing it now.

I have the Cobra Guzzler and it works great. However, I usually dry with a leaf blower and the Air Wand attachment. Then I use a QD like PB S&G with a Microfiber Towel to get any drips left from the leaf blower.

Whatever works best for you is the best product to use. I admit to using most drying products (Absorber, natural chamois, WW MF, MF and combinations of) with the exception of the leaf blower method. I haven't experienced any problems with any of the Absorbers. You might want to try the Microtex labeled big blue MF (non WW) drying towel available from W-M (and maybe other sources as well). It is a big towel with a plush side and a "suede" side.

One thing regarding drying technique. Don't "drag" any of the tools over your finish. Either blot or "skim" the towel/chamois and you shouldn't have any problems.

I like microfiber towels - both regular type towels and waffle weaves.

Waffle weave all the way for me...I've not found anything that works better...I do finish the car up with a leaf blower to get the water out of the cracks and such...but never as a soul drying tool:D

I dry with a microfiber towel and use an air compressor to get all the water out of cracks and any hard to reach areas.

I use a Mothers Foam Core Drying towel (similar to the AG Guzzler HD towel) for regular washes and the yellow Viking drying towels for ONR washes. I have resorted to using the Absorber but only used to blot with the final wipe with a detailing towel.

water blade really helps to knock out drying, but only if it is totally clean. After washing i usually wash the blade off with my soapy mit, rinse then use on the car.

There is a new no touch drying device called Power Dry on YouTube. Supposed to hook-up to a wet/dry vac exhaust or leaf blower. Has anyone seen it?

Watched the video, certainly no rocket science here. I'll have to pass on this one. Don't see that it would do anymore for me than a variety of other attachments on a vacuum or for that matter an electric leaf blower. It also looked to me like the user was dragging it across the paint, could have just been the camera angle. Hope there not asking more than $5 for that one.
