LIGHTS OUT!! (Oklahoma Ice Storm)

Take Luck!
Hey guy's just got my light's turned back on today!! :yay :rockon  :thewave: We had an ice storm :snow: come thru this past Sat. & Sunday which caused the city of Tulsa to have the largest power outage in the states history . The ice was an inch thick on the tree's causing braches to come down on electric poles, houses, cars etc. We had transistor blowing up all over the city. I lost my power Monday at 10:00 A.M. :( and had to learn how to leave like a cave man up until this JOYEST day :D. We had to burn wood :chop on the fire place, and close my den off from the rest of the house to keep warm. The temp. was below zero Tue. and Wed. Wiped out the turkey fryer and fried some chops. Fired up the smoker to keep chops and other sides warm. Man I'm telling you I turn in to MACGYVER not having any electricity. It was getting dark about 4:30 here, and you can't play any board game, read books, and can't get on D.C. :wall it was killing me. Although it was bad we hung in to the end. Just thought I'd give a report to all my friends. Learned a lot of things through it all like always have a EMERGENCEY Kit around with candles, blankets, first aid kit, food, etc. O yeah get a GENERATER!!!!! <----this is all I want for Christmas.

Don't won't to bore you with The Tales Of T-Mac just glade to be back!!! :howdy Time to catch up on some Threads and Christmas sales that I've missed out on.

It is a good thing that you had the ability to heat with wood. I hate being with out electricity as well. I remember my days living in a village in the Interior of Alaska. We had intermittent electrical outages. It is bad. But what was worse for me was frozen porcelan. Electricty did not always keep the porcelan warm but the wood fire did.

sorry to hear Tony ... Glad to hear you survived ...after reading this last night, I had to call my cousin out there, but he was only out for 36 hours:(:(...unfortunately I also found out his father had to go in for emergency heart surgery during the storm:(

We've had a few power outages here nothing that lasted as long as yours....funny thing is that every time I would walk into a room I would flip the switch...like said...you never know how much you depend on it until it gone....true of a lot of things

Glad to see you back in the light...LOL

Hey T-Mac glad you survived the cold. Darn goo thing you had a wood burning fireplace with enough wood to keep you warm.

Thanks Reddwarf! I just about ran out of wood. Bought a rick late last month, and in one week blew straight through it.

thanks, he treated me real well when i used to pass through on my way to and from college ...if all doesn't go well, I might be out your way:(

I really don't miss that snow and ice stuff. One week after we moved into our house in NY, we had an ice storm that took out a few trees and branches. That was a fun little "Welcome to the neighborhood" gift. :( Luckily, our power was only out for 12 hours or so and we had wood for the fireplace.

Gotta love the fireplace.
