NXT 2.0hhhhhhh My!

I was at Wal-Mart this morning and noticed they finally got Meguiar's NXT 2.0 in. I've heard a lot of good thing about this from it's beta testers. Most of you know that I loved the original NXT and it's look. I got 4-6 weeks durability out of it and in some case even more when polished and prepped. This new formula boasts that it lasts longer, looks better, and beads like crazy. So, I broke out the Cyclo and polished out my truck with IP just to remove the PwS that I put on it about 3 weeks ago. I then took the white Edge Cyclo pads and NXT'd the truck. Boy, I forgot how good this stuff smells! It went on thin and even. It virtually vanished as I was using it. I did the whole truck then came back and wiped it off. Came off easy and there was no streaking like the original version did every once and a while. I then went to work and did an Escalade which took me about 2.5 hours. I then gave my truck another coating. Holy smokes! Well here's the pics.

Wheels got a coating too.....

Is it me or did the yellow of your truck darken a bit with the addition of the NXT? The truck looks good. Maybe the darkening is because of the lighting.

Does the the new NXT leave residue on the dark trim? That was my only complaint with any of the Meguiars products.

It has great depth and shine, but the original did too.

Does it darken the look of the paint? I felt the original made the red on the Gran Prix look darker. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it was something I didn't care for.

Does this new version still stain black trim like the original did?

(CW beat me to it)

I went ahead and put it on ALL the trim. No staining at all. It did darken the paint up a little or maybe this is how it's supposed to look!

I never had any issues with staining with the original formula. I used it on over 100 cars.

It's been quite some time since I used the NXT and I don't remember having a problem, but I am careful to not get Meguiar's cleaner waxes on black trim to avoid the problem. I have had the problem with many Meg's products. Possibly NXT was not one of them.

i am not 100% sure however i have heard from some good sourses that they have added darkening agents to the new nxt. Like i said im not 100% sure but it could be the casue of the darkening.

And thanks for the write up justin, looks like anothr wax to add to the last :lmfao

I had to pop in "the mart" this afternoon and picked up the Meg's bundle for 24.88. It's a pretty good deal considering the new Quick Detailer is in the box as well - it's a $10 product by itself. I am anxious to try the NXT 2.0 out. Now I have it and Zaino waiting for details. Good thing I have a couple of vehicles waiting in the wings.... :D

So many products, so little time. Good work Justin! Interesting to see you come full circle from about a year ago when you were using NXT and Megs for most everything.

Personally, I like that some products darken the color. Of course it depends on the color but on my car I like that RMG gives it a darker look.

It certainly looks as if you have a chance to do a side by side test to compare the two. I know that I would be interested in your observations. Prep them the same and do just the hood. Do it on a daily driver and you can observe on the way to work and back each day.

I just hope this wonderful product doesn't get trashed because it's over the counter and doesn't cost 50.00!

That a shame. I think that's what happened to the original version.

The following quote from a Mike Phillips post at MOL might be what made me have some concern for the possibility of staining trim.
He is referring to the original version in this post.
Mike Phillips said:
The NXT Tech Wax doesn't stain trim as bad as Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax, but you should still avoid getting it onto the trim.

If you do get some on the trim, wipe it off with a terry cloth towel as soon as you can.

There are quite a few posts at MOL recommending to not use the original Tech Wax on plastic trim.
It appears that may no longer be the case with the 2.0 version.

Looks great Justin. I was amazed by how much the new stuff darkens the paint. Takes my black to a whole new level. Super easy to apply and remove too. I still haven't grabbed one of those gift sets but I might just have to.

I love what it does to any color. I used it on white today and man, it popped!
