Anyone have any ideas to fix this to get a little more life out of this. My nephew will have to save up some money for a new top. In the meantime something to get him a few more months.

Some type of Iron or sew on patch and now opening the top until he is installing the new one? The last time I had canvas top issues I was in my Jeep, 300 miles away from home. I sewed it back together in the Joann Fabrics parking lot before I continued my journey home.

The top is textured vinyl.

Short term fix would be duct tape applied to the underside. I’m sure someone sells patches, maybe Amazon? Use 303 Protectant on the rest of the top to slow down the deterioration.

Yeah, I told him to start using the 303 aerospace once he gets a new top. He just got the car a couple of weeks ago. I was afraid if he used it on the old one any kind of temporary fix wouldn`t stick.
How are are you doing after your surgery?

If he applies tape to the underside it should stick and stop the top from tearing anymore (hopefully).
I’m still not able to twist, turn, or bend over. I still have to wear a brace for 2 more weeks for support. I’ve had some nerve pain in my legs that comes and goes. I keep hoping the pain will go away but so far it’s hanging on. The weather was beautiful last week and I wanted to clean my cars so bad. By the time I’m able to detail again it’s going to be hot and I’ll probably want to stay inside, lol. Thanks for asking!

Amazon, Tear-Aid. About $20. Bought one back in the day to use on my Z but was lucky enough to have fed ex rear end it. Should give him up to a year hopefully.

Go to your nearest marine supply store and get some sail repair tape. It`s prettier than duct tape, usually made with dacron or nylon so it is strong and flexible, and somewhat water resistant. I had an `88 Mustang convertible with a vinyl top and this trick worked even in Florida summer sun and rain. B)
