Ceramic Coating Selection Help...

I’ll be applying my first attempt at a ceramic coating Tuesday. Can the masses suggest one that is user friendly and quality? I know there are a ton of them out there right now. It will be put on a properly corrected Alpine White BMW 5 series. Cost is lowest concern. Thanks

Ease of use...Mothers or Adams. McKees is more of a standard application coating.

Haven’t tried Adams but agree with mother’s for spray wax like application or McKee’s for a traditional coating that is super easy to apply.

You have quite a few options.

For starters if you have a product like CanCoat. Not a full blown coating more like a lite version of a coating. It will give coating like performance but it won`t have the longevity. User friendly product and overall a great product.

From using quite a few coatings here are some of my thoughts.

Optimum Gloss Coat - probably the easiest coating to apply. For me it`s overall performance was a bit lacking.

Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light - Like Gloss Coat it is easy to apply and user friendly for a first timer. It does not have the hydrophobic performance (tight water beading) like other coatings but it sheets really well. Topping it with Exo takes it to another level adding that nicer water behavior. Exo is just as easy but it takes a little more due diligence to level it out.

Cquartz UK 3.0 - This latest version is much more user friendly that the previous formula. It performs well and I would consider giving it a shot for a first timer. Cquartz TiO2 is similar but I would say a tad more user friendly. Either of these topped with Gliss is also a nice option.

22ple VX Pro2 - This one is user friendly with a nice forgiving flash time. Seems like a nice performer although I have only had it for a few months. For a maintenance product I would stick with their VS1 and skip Finitura.

Gyeon Syncro - Although easy to apply it just doesn`t have the lasting power for long term protection from my experience.

If you were asking for recommendations, I would say give CQUK 3.0 (optinal topped with Gliss), 22PLE VX Pro2 (HPC looks like a winner as well) or the Gtechniq twins a go for a first timer.

Are the high end price ones like Migliore or GTechniq any better than cheaper options?

In some cases yes. There are too many factors to consider when it comes to overall performance. Sometimes taking a leap of faith is a good thing.

Yeah, the 22ple HPC is e-z in terms of applicaiton. I think it`s going to be a winner in terms of longevity, certainly is so when it comes to a BIG gloss.

Thanks all! I think I`ve decided on the Kamikaze line. Are there any discount codes or Autopian discounts? Thanks!

You are going to have to order elsewhere as this product line is not sold through Autopia. Esoteric carries it but I have no idea if there are any discount codes.

FYI detailed image has 25% off until tonight if you are interested in 22ple HPC.

Sale does not apply to 22PLE products

They were included. From the email they sent out. Sale is now over.

Ah now I see. You are right the kits are generally not available with any discount codes. Individually they are. DI figures the price is somewhat good with what is included in the kit.

In terms of ease of application the black fire coating was extremely easy with a very long work time. It’s unknown how long the durability will be but it seems even the least durable coatings will give you a year of protection. If I were to do it over I would go with 22ple hpc.

Yea just visiting and viewing esoteric`s website will cost you a dollar per minute. Lol jk. If money is not a concern, get a self-healing coating applied by a pro. If you`re concerned about rock chips, I`d suggest ppf first. Congrats on your car! Let`s see some photos.

I trolled the Car sales sites for about four months and am glad I waited. I scored this one just off of lease from LA. 2016 CPO 535i M-Sport. If you told me this car had 24 miles and not 24k miles on it, I would believe you. I honestly think it was never driven in the rain once. There is not a dent or scratch on the car. I TRIED to find one and couldn`t. I found one tiny chip about the size of 1/2 a pea on the bottom corner where someone opened the door into a curb. The engine bay was not detailed and it looks like it just rolled off the production line. Unfortunately they never protected the paint and it has some correction to be done. Dinan exhaust and a Mission Performance flash tune are on order. I`ll post more after the Miyabi and Top Coat later this week.
