Ruby Red Tricoat Explorer gets glossed!

So after doing the tuxedo black SHO Taurus the owners wife wanted her Explorer taken care of. The interior got a thorough detailing with Mckees and IGL products. Exterior got the normal wash and decon process. Paint was corrected using my G21, Adams swirl killer mini. M100 on a BOSS microfiber cutting pad knocked out the defects. Then Hyper polish on a white Rupes pad for finish polishing before being coated in IGL Quartz 2 year coating.

Sorry for the brief breakdown. Getting over a illness and just wanted to throw this up.

This Tricoat paint is unreal and definitely one of my favorite colors.

Looks fantastic, nice work. My MIL has a 2016 or 17 Explorer in the same color. I really like it as well. The metallic flake is perfect. Mazda has a similar red that as good. Makes the Miata RF and Mazda 6 look amazing.

Thanks guys. I had a gentleman just book a F150 for a coating job when he saw it on my business page. His exact words were "I want it to look like the Explorer!" Haha.

Definitely feeling better. Had a rough 24hrs with that dreaded stomach bug. All is going well hopefully now. Have a pile of work to get back to!

Yeah, that is one of Ford`s best colors. Someone nearby has that color on an SHO and the car is clean much of the time. It really catches your eye.

Wow, what a coincidence! I JUST read your post on the Tuxedo Black SHO that you detailed and posted that my wife and I recently purchased a used 2015 Taurus SEL AWD and asked some questions about detailing the interior (See https://www.autopia.org/forums/clic...lizzard-2015-sho-taurus-corrected-coated.html)

Now this Explorer in Ruby Red Metallic, which happens to be the SAME color as my wife`s Taurus SEL AWD. Yes, the color is awesome and it is one of the reasons my wife REALLY likes the car. It is an eye-catching (AKA police attention-getter) hue and you ALWAYS do a masterful job on ANY vehicle you detail. Thanks for posting the pictures and short write-up.

Oh yes, I hope you are getting better from whatever ails you! (I assume when you said "just wanted to throw this up" it was no pun intended)

Justin, it looks great ! What did you use on the black plastic trim on the lower half ? The ruby Red looks very nice with a fresh coat of wax.
