Dems have no message, no acceptable vision, no budget nothing.

Only thing they they want is to run business out, tax to death, flood the country with people on welfare. Doesn’t sound like the right people are in office across the hall...

This is an outstanding idea

Oh this is great news !!!! Thanks for posting this !!!

Our Church has a similar program going on forever..
People come on hard times, they need a little help, we try to help them help themselves..
We can get them emergency food, all the basics, (as in that article above) lots of great canned goods, that we make and can in our canneries; no one is going hungry..

We then have them go to one of our employment offices, where trained people interview, coach, help them write a good resume`, have lots of job openings there for them to look over, and help them get interviews for jobs..

Then, when they are up and going, doing better, we ask them if they have time sometime, to come work a little bit at the place where they get their emergency food supplies, work at the cannery sometime, work on one of our church farms, etc., and then they have paid back for the food..
It`s a proven fact that we all do better when we actually work for what we get, whatever the way that happens..

All members of the Church are asked to put in some time working at these places as well.. We all volunteer the hours, there is no pressure, no "requirement", etc., we just go down there when the cannery is running, for example and can a lot of different things.. I love this, having never been in a cannery before.. :) Most everyone who works there are unpaid volunteers..

Anyone can also volunteer their time to work at one of the Church farms..

Then, once a month, all members of the Church are asked to Fast for a couple of meals if possible, if their health conditions are ok, etc., little children are not asked to, and put the money that would have been spent on those meals into a special Fast Offering Fund, and that money is used for nothing else but to help all those that are in need..

I have personally found it amazing, what can be done if we all just sacrifice a little bit of our time, talents, etc., to help others, especially those in need.. It is really true that both the receiver and the giver are blessed in ways that are way beyond what any of us can do on our own..

I`m really happy about that program proposal the President is working on - I hope it goes through..

"Most people on the right have no problem understanding people on the left because many, if not most, were on the left themselves when they were younger. But many, if not most, people on the left find it inexplicable how any decent and intelligent person could be on the right

Her we go again... let’s listen to the gun control nuts again for a couple weeks. Ignore all the social, economic and home issues that contribute to this unfortunate phenomenon of the past 20 years and blame it on guns- which we’ve always had a lot of in this country.

We`re only halfway through february and we`ve already had 18 school shooting in the US so far this year. It`s important to address all the factors that contribute to school shootings and what`s most important is providing a broader continuum of mental health care.

It`s our responsibility as Americans to start a national dialogue and to create a plan to help increase education and hopefully prevent future school shootings. Blaming the problem solely on guns IMO is just as naive and illogical as saying "the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun"

While none of us have the answers, acknowledging that there is a problem is the first step to solving it. School shootings have become so prevalent that it`s completely irresponsible to say "this is not the time to talk about gun control"

IME the majority of both conservatives and liberals are overwhelmingly in favor preventing people with mental illness from buying guns, performing background checks for all private sales and gun shows and are even willing to consider banning high capacity magazines and assault-style weapons.

18 is misleading. It makes you think people are going around intentionally shooting up the schools. Here is one of the 18 they use for their statistics https://everytownresearch.org/school-shootings/#5924

A school liaison officer was sitting on a bench talking with some students when a third-grader pressed the trigger on the officer`s holstered weapon, causing it to fire and strike the floor. The holster was equipped with a trigger guard designed to prevent such accidental discharges, so the department is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the event.[/FONT]

Why does this only happen in the USA?

Historically it has happened in other countries as well, but those countries actually had the guts to do something about it. Not like the government cowards we`re stuck with.

Take Australia for example, after a mass shooting in 1996 they passed new gun legislation on semi-automatic weapons and shotguns. They also put in place a more thorough background check, a 28 day waiting period, and the requirement to present a "justifiable reason" to own a gun.Self-protection does not qualify as a justifiable reason either. And guess what? They haven`t had a mass shooting since. Zero.

Are Australia`s gun laws the solution for the US? - BBC News

Other countries like Switzerland, on the other hand, have gun ownership stats similar to that of the USA but again, mass shooting are extremely rare with only 2 happening in the last 20 years. Whats the difference? Switzerland has extensive, mandatory health insurance, which allows schools to have direct and immediate access to psychologists and intervention teams.

Which takes us back to the whole mental health issue politicians love to use as a scapegoat. But do the same politicians turn around and pass bills providing funding for more in school psychologist who are trained to deal with troubled individuals before it turns deadly? NOPE!

It`s a BS cycle of all talk with no action. But don`t worry their "thoughts and prays" are with the families.
