2017 Chicago Gun Crime statistics:

Shot & Killed: 624
Shot & Wounded: 2937
Total Shot: 3561
Total Homicides: 675

Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country. Gun control doesn`t work

Every spring for you know what`s and giggles I submit one or two PhD applications to different schools. I have my masters and turned down an offer to Florida State after grad school back in 2010 due to needing to pay for my recently purchased SRT.

I still have that academic itch, even though it doesn`t necessarily have a direct ROI attached to it. Ever.

Sometimes my applications get accepted, sometimes not.

This year I am going to focus on my interest in the Negotiation of language and perceptions as it pertains to the phenomenon of commercialized ceramic coatings and how this reflects across social class. (Since I`m an Applied Sociologist by curiosity/education-whatever that means.)

This year, if I get an acceptance I think I will accept it.

Perhaps it`s time to just jump into the rabbit hole.

Maybe I`m just bored.

Probably so...post grad would cost almost as much as a Hellcat...says me to myself

I already turned down a promotion to Ohio

A little spackle and paint will cover up the hole on the wall just as well. :) Seriously though, if there is light at the end of the tunnel that has $$$ signs attached, you enjoy doing it and it makes you better than you are, go for it. Improving ones self and helping to make the world a better place is what this life is all about.

Boredom? Huh, I`ve heard of that but always thought it was just some urban myth or something...

512Detail- I can `t think of a better application of resources! Hope you go for it, and IMO that`d be an interesting topic to pursue.

Man, I`d go for a PhD over a Hellcat so fast....with zero thought of whether it`d "pay off" monetarily.

The 31st of January. A blue moon, and a supermoon , and a lunar eclipse. Hopefully it will be low on the horizon for some good pictures that includes the mountains in it. Something like the last supermoon .

Oh, it works. When you make it almost impossible for law abiding citizens to legally buy and carry guns, gun control works extremely well to raise illegal activity and gun violence. It works.

Ahhhhh, the Dan Malloy method of gun control.

I`ll admit Dodge people can be a little ridiculous...there is a very heated thread on a Dodge Challengers FB page because someone posted a pic of a Hellcat and a Ford GT assuming they were even comparable, ha. They should have at least put the Demon, but they are still not even in the same category.

I was gonna post something snarky about the Dodge commercials (which I consider irresponsible and aimed at the Childish Adult demographic) and the behavior of certain people, like those who argue this kind of stuff on the internet.. but I waste enough bandwidth (like this right here).

I just drive the car. It was the fastest car I could afford at 24.

It`s my local mopar family that keeps me interested in the vehicles. Trust me if I could afford a Z06 or something like I`d probably buy one.

I do agree their commercials can lead to certain thoughts.

The Hellcats also let in a lot of dodge owners that probably should have gone to another manufacturer. :) They are more like the commercials.

512Detail- Heh heh, IMO you`re outside of the Target Demographic for your car (from me that`s a compliment ;) ) and hey...yours is a *LOT* more sensible that the stuff I was driving at your age! I was firmly in the "irresponsible idiot" demographic at that age, probably woulda killed myself in something like a Hellcat, or even just a lesser SRT :o

Any old farts here (like me) who remember the sticker shock when CD`s first came out? If so, go check out the price of vinyl.
Back then it was because CD manufacturing was more costly (required a clean room etc, etc). What is their excuse for 70 year old technology being so expensive? Other than the fact that people who have fond memories of flipping through albums at a record store as teens are now in their peak earning years.
