The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread

Charles Sykes, you are still mad because Trump won ?? :)

Whatever you can throw up about him, where were you, when that little twerp muslim president was entertaining the muslim brotherhood in the white house so many times, they can`t count them?? Why were you not writing about the billions of dollars on pallets that little twerp idiot man gave to Iran???

And exactly how much of your entire salary have YOU donated to worthy causes this year ??? How much???? Yeah, didnt think so..

You just want to be stuck in the muck where all the bottom feeder swamp people live, huh .... Good luck there...

Despite all the flaws, real or imagined this man has, tell us all, little charlie, what exactly have YOU done to help anyone, that was a sacrifice to you????

If you were aiming for the title of "2017`s most shameful bigotry spewed by an Autopian" I think you nailed it.

Don`t know what is more appalling.... you referring to President Barack Obama as a "twerp Muslim President" or the fact that two members "liked" it.

That said, I appreciate that you`re the type of guy that doesn`t allow "facts" or "evidence" get in the way of your beliefs.

Disapproving of the President`s job performance is one thing, but calling a Christian a "muslim" based on a fallacy and one of many untruths nurtured by President Donald Trump is nothing more than a conspiracy theory that`s occasionally discharged from the lips of those that are too ignorant and misinformed to let reality change their world view.

It really surprises me that Dan Chappa (danlc95), someone I have the utmost respect for would "like" that post.

You know I try not to get involved in these kinds of threads anymore because it`s a waste of my time and everyone else`s. We live in a tribal society today where we seek out and absorb information that confirms our pre-existing beliefs and prejudices. Our accomplice in this is a news media, on both sides, that is driven, for the last 30 years, by profits, rather than a simple duty to report the facts. This leads to hyperbole, sensationalism, and beating of dead horses.

I understand your disappointment in some members. However, consider this. I have a friend who has very different religious beliefs than I do. I often say that if she grew up in my house, she would believe as I do, and if I grew up in hers, I would believe as she does. I think it`s near impossible to listen to the "news" in today`s world (and you`re likely to gravitate to the "news" that makes you feel most comfortable about your pre-existing beliefs) without being brainwashed to a certain extent.

Of course no one wants to admit (or even consider) that they may have been brainwashed, just like they don`t want to admit the wax they use, that they spent all weekend researching on the internet isn`t the greatest there is (reference the "wax wars" from Autopia years ago). It`s much easier to just think that you are the one with the level-headed ideas, and the people on the other side are just crazies.

It`s sad to realize that people that you respect in other ways can have views that are completely divergent from yours, but you have compartmentalize that and remember that as a society we have more in common with each other than we have differences. Seek things that bring us together (like car wax) rather than things that push us apart. And most of all, don`t look down on the single-bucket with grit guard method if you use the GDWM, and vice-versa. Can`t we all get along?

So Schumer is being protested outside his apartment for caving on the schumershutdown......

I suggested that he could probably get a room at trump tower for a good nights sleep........

Setec, I really appreciate you taking the time to craft such a thoughtful response and to remind me of all factors and circumstances that contribute to our belief system and our perceived reality. You are 100% right that ALL of us gravitate towards "news" that confirms our pre-existing beliefs. The lack of accurate unbiased information leads to the inability to not only make informed policy decisions but to create an accurate world view.

Thank you

You know that you are a bigot for calling me one, right ??? :)

And as far as facts or evidence, you better get off your Demo-Box and perhaps do your own research..

And while you are at it, explain how much in common, a "Christian" would have with the Muslim Brotherhood, who are, oh yeah, known terrorists who support terrorism to the hilt....

It was long, long before, during those painful 8 years that everything I believe was confirmed, so just so you can keep up with this, President Trump had nothing to do with what I believe to be true..

You don`t really want to keep going down this road do you ???

Just a reminder to all to keep this discussion civil with no personal insults. It would be a shame to close this thread after all this time and after all that has been discussed.

Roughly 10 seconds scrolling through my Twitter timeline.....exhausting

So basically a human acting like a bot.

10 seconds. Which means you don`t even read the articles your linking to? You don`t think that`s highly irresponsible behavior?

You don`t see how easily a person like you is minipulated?

Screen shot were posted of the texts....not sure what`s so manipulating....draw your own conclusions

He`s not liberal........... -_-

I hope your joking. If so, fine. Because, I`m not seeing whether a person following the Democrats (Not really liberal) or Republicans (Definitely not really conservative) makes a difference about being manipulated.

You will as you get older........

Dan,

First of all, I`d genuinely like to compliment you on sticking to your guns. You`re a man of conviction and I think that`s pretty neat.

Secondly, I know that "going down this road with you" won`t be easy, but if you`ll give me a sec to slip on my favorite pair of crazy-pants I`ll give
it the old college try.

I`m pretty sure you`re referring to the aid package sent to Egypt which was NOT the same as giving it to the Muslim Brotherhood. It was an ongoing aid package that we had been giving to Egypt since 1979.

President Obama was accused of many things, but despite what you read on Snopes late at night, or what you remember seeing in the weekly email chain your church sent out, allegations that Obama secretly practiced Islam or that he`s the antichrist were nothing more than radical conspiracy theories that were dispelled nearly as fast as they were generated.

I assumed he was speaking of the money we threw at Iran getting nothing in return.

Really? I really don`t think that`s what he meant when he said Obama is "a twerp muslim President" and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

While I get that many Americans (including myself) didn`t agree with the Obama administration`s decision to unfreeze the approximately $100 billion in Iranian assets, we didn`t get nothing. The deals terms made Iran curb nuclear technologies and allow nuclear weapons inspections for 12-15 year. Iran relinquished nearly 97% of it`s enriched uranium stockpile and agreed to stop plutonium production. In return, Iran was allowed to reclaim over $100 billion of its own assets that were previously frozen in foreign banks.

I think it`s completely reasonable to question whether we got enough in return for the deal. Especially when considering that all the deal did was delay Iran making a nuclear bomb.
