Random thoughts thread

Yep. Client dropping off in an hour or so, checked weather and looks like 100% rain all weekend naturally as I will have my car outside. Seems to only rain under these scenarios.

I thought I lived in New England, my ups guy must be from Florida. My package was on truck and out for delivery at 8 am Friday but got delayed for severe weather conditions (Hello we got an inch of snow thats just another day around here), and now is delayed till monday delivery (guess they need to call in equipment to dig out for this horrific storm). Good thing it was Prime order and I wanted it for this weekend to organize my garage (new totes to store fishing stuff in). Guess I will just have to sit around all day and watch football what a bummer!

First time in about 15 years I went into an FYE. Walked over to the metal section and they had a couple obscurities I actually listen to! $46 for 3 CD`s though, but worth it IMO. The downloadable stuff (even the pay kind) quality is lacking so I figured why not. I did quickly rip them to my computer to put on the SD card ful of music in the GTI.

On a side note I stopped by the Spencers while I was there. I`m only 28, but felt really old browsing through that store nowadays. Accidentally went past the "novelties" section and quickly felt like a dirty old man...

Gee, sounds like Spencer`s (it`s the place that used to be called "Spencer`s Gifts", right?) has changed since the last time I was in one...which was well before Nizmo was born. That was a cool store for a young kid to explore back in...uhm, well...back in the day.

Yea it has changed a little bit, even since I was in there last. Felt like a giant teenager "meme" store now with terrible racket of music playing in the background; I quickly got uncomfortable and left. Think hipster to the max. Not to mention there must of been incense burning there that smelled a bit like days past.

Just a note, I am an almost permanent grumpy guy, so my opinion may be skewed...

Nizmo- Heh heh, yeah...I sometimes fear I`m leaning towards generally grumpy too.

IIRC, my mother said something similar about 45 years ago after *she* stepped into a Spencer`s ;)

Well, I might`ve actually appreciated that, depending on what it was.

And, heh heh...oh man...I remember when "hipster" wasn`t a pejorative!

Amtrak crashed yesterday in WA. Woke up this morning and an Amtrack had ran into a semi in San Marcos TX (right near where I used to live). Bad two days I guess.

One would think that with all the focus on autonomous cars (no driver), we would have trains without drivers. They could be done remotely - drone trains...from their home !:P

Finally pulled the trigger (no pun intended) on getting a couple things stippled. Been watching a local guys instagram for a while and after seeing he does Xbox One controllers that was it for me. One day turn around during Christmas week and I think they came out GREAT. Sunburst pattern on the P320 and golf ball pattern on the controller. User is @lvstipple if anyone on here is interested! Super friendly guy to work with.

Bring it on winter, I`m ready!

UJHxOZr.jpg

125K BTU and it`s massive overkill for my garage. Borrowed it from work for the impending truck work next week (highs in the 20`s) and didn`t want to freeze my nads off! Took it from 45 to 65 in 5 minutes, and only has to run a minute at a time to keep it there. Think I`m gonna buy a 65K BTU come tax time, never realized how nice it is to have one.

Nizmo- Your ventilation/air space/etc. sufficient for that to be safe?

There`s so many gaps and cracks open (mostly windows) that it`ll be pulling plenty of air. For safety`s sake I`ll grab the carbon-monoxide detector. 125K is way overkill, but the owner of the company I work for was gracious to let me borrow it. I`ll clean if off before I bring it back; its been un-used for over a year.

Nizmo, i had one very similar to this one (was the one northern tool carried last year) and I loved it. Worked well heated fast but smell from running diesel was a little much for me after i got the garage all sealed up. Now i run pure electric heat in attached garage and detached has a heat pump system. Would probably run better on kero but kero here is expensive as you can only get it pre packaged although in the deepest part of winter the diesel i use from work is 50/50 kero diesel winter mix.

Yea there`s a #1 kero pump at just about every gas station around here. The 5 gal can was full when I got it from work, but filled it up today. Was $17 at the local Sheetz to fill the can.

I want to eventually expand the garage 1 bay and insulate it when I hopefully purchase the place next year. Not too big on electric heat, but might go with a propane system.

Not sure how you cold weather people don`t go mad...I was in West TX for Christmas and I went to clean my windshield this morning and Spray and Wipe froze on it once I wiped it across. I didn`t realize it was that cold but I had to let the defrost run a little bit.

@lxjeremy

That looks really sharp! I just went on their website and saw their pricing.. As slick as it looks, I wouldn`t pay it.

512Detail- Well, in cold weather I use stuff made for low temps, like Zep40. Not that I clean glass outdoors during the winter very often, but as you obviously know, sometimes ya just have to.
