New shampoo advice

Between Poorboy`s and Optimum, I`d go Poorboy`s.

Like Accumulator mentioned, 3D Pink is also a nice choice. Even more so when picked up on sale.

As much as I like Super Slick and Suds , I usually turn to Super Slick & Wax ... with the hard water we here, I don`t get any water spots on paint or windows and with a little spritz Spray and Gloss before drying, the water runs off the surface ..

Just used S&G last week (last wash). Although I didn`t get the water running off effect, I also didn`t get any water spots (I usually do when I employ that style of wash at the local coin op. No time for a proper wash). S&G left a nice gloss and slick feel.

haha. Last night, I almost wore my red Poorboy`s sweatshirt, but didn`t cuz I opted for a hoodie instead. Too cold not to wear something on my head.

Dan- I`m surprised you think GC is OK...I found it decidedly mediocre with only so-so lubricity and cleaning. Even just using it up on wheels/wells/etc. the diff was dramatic when I finally used it up and resumed using up my M62 for that stuff. I *WISH* there were a locally available, inexpensive shampoo that I considered OK!.

It`s funny because that`s how I feel about the Griots! Must be differences in our water or something.

Accumulator,

BH’s Auto Wash has very good lubricity. I’ve used it only once and it was about a month ago. For 1/4 oz of shampoo it was awesome. I cannot compare it to HW or Optimum as i don’t have enough “mitt time” with BH. I followed the directions and used warm water.

I bought some BH Auto Foam and BH Surfex but haven’t had a chance to use either. Their clay is too hard for my liking, I have to try softening it next time I use it. I sent you a PM with some info on Bilt Hamber products.

Bob

I have some products from BH and it`s a very good brand. The surfex HD is very good for various things I use it most as prewash in the foamcannon. The clay comes with different hardness regualar medium and soft. I got the medium but will buy the soft next time as it`s a very good clay. Autofoam and Korrosol is products that I will get too. It`s a solid brand and look at Forensic detailing chanel when he did a brand review of Bilt Hamber. Auto wash seems to be a good car schampo and a clean one as reset. Used reset today and the cleaning ability it has is awesome and so easy to rinse off.

I was thinking the same about ordering hyper wash when I need to replace my soap. I will probably have it forever at the dilution rate. Plus this past summer I really only did rinseless washing. I guess the best way to think of it, at least in my head, is that in the long run ill save myself money because I wont need to order it for a while.

I honestly can`t tell the difference between most car soaps. BUT, I find that Optimum Car Wash seems to have at least a little bit better cleaning ability than Hyper Wash. Most of all, Optimum Car Wash is easily the best smelling car soap I used and is quite possibly the best smelling detail product I own. Most Optimum products smell great, but Optimum Car Wash is really something special scent wise.

I`ve been eyeing Poorboy`s Super Slick and Suds, but how is the scent?

I agree on the scent of Optimum car wash. It is my favorite too. HW has a good clean smell, but nothing compares to Optimum.

Both excellent products. I have purchased and used both happily. I always return to Poorboys super slick and suds for some reason. They make great products at an affordable price. You cannot go wrong with either.

Heh heh, I can`t help but think to myself...maybe that`s because most of `em are utterly mediocre ;)

But then again, I do find very significant diffs between the three I`m currently using even though I think they`re all pretty good.

Lonnie- Heh heh, that was a fun thread to revisit :D Even if doing so felt a bit narcissistic :o

And yeah, quite a few of those folks are currently MIA here.

Wow congrats yet again to Accumulator for having so many posts! I read as many as I can in my spare time

Has no one here tried BLACKFIRE Car Wash (formerly Midnight Sun Conditioning Shampoo)?

I have six years of modest detailing experience, which makes me much less experienced than many of you, but I`ve used Optimum Car Wash, BLACKFIRE Car Wash, Hyper-Wash, Honeydew, Xtreme Foam Formula, Gold Class, and Stripper Scent shampoo, Reset, and, just yesterday, BLACKFIRE Foam Soap.

My two main soaps have been Optimum and BLACKFIRE. Optimum foams better and smells better, (BLACKFIRE`s soap may not have any scent), but BLACKFIRE rinses off quickly, as it does contain drying agents (and it does foam well). But the main thing is that BLACKFIRE leaves my white Honda Odyssey very shiny and with paint that pops. A white Honda Odyssey that`s just been delivered to the dealer from the factory doesn`t have "popping" white paint. BLACKFIRE`s soap does leave behind its magical polymers, which I assume are responsible for the great shine.

So I`m very happy with BLACKFIRE and will start on my fifth or six gallon on the next wash.

CarPro`s Reset works very, very well on my wife`s CQuartz-coated Escape. It`s a strong, concentrated soap. If I get any on my hands, they crack open.

I probably need to coat my Odyssey and use Reset with it, but I want to use up my BLACKFIRE LSPs first.

Jaddie- The only BF stuff I`ve tried is what came with the original All Finish Paint Protection kit. IIRC, and it`s been a while, that shampoo was HARSH, like..."strip your LSP"-harsh. No surprise that it cleans well if it`s the same stuff!

I wouldn`t like something as harsh as the Reset sounds, too great a chance of getting it in my eyes (no, I don`t wear eye protection every moment I`m doing a wash :o ).

I have several bottles of Blackfire Conditioning soap. It has a purplish tint and a light scent/. It is a nice all around soap. It rinses very well.
