I`ve been a long time user of Collinite. Protection lasts easily through a Chicago winter. All that said, there is something with new bottles that seem to leave a residue behind. I do the heat the bottle, shake well, apply thin, all that stuff, but after the wipe down, it seems to leave a film. Might be time for something new...Here we go, lets hear your thoughts. All of them are going to look good, big criteria is lasting protection and ease of use (including removal from plastic trim).

FK1000 - Accumulater swears by it. I think I prefer a liquid
HD Poxy - love HD Speed, if this provides good protection and is as easy to use, could be a winner
McKee`s latest poly wax stuff - I`ve had great luck with McKee`s line
Stick with Collinite and let it haze/flash longer? Seems to work well over HD Speed. On my sister in law`s clean, but not polished, black van, what a pain.

You`ll want to look at Menzerna/Jescar Powerlock. It`s a liquid like you prefer, easy on, easy off and long lasting too. The super shine is a bonus.
 
FK1000p is a winner. Is paste really that big of a deal? I`ve seen it last a very very long time

Poxy from what I`ve witnessed only lasts about 1-2 months

Jescar PowerLock+ is amazing stuff. Goes on easy, comes of easier, looks incredible and lasts. Pretty much checks all of the boxes right there.
 
jatleson- I`ll be interested to hear what you go with and how it works for you. No need to say what *I* would suggest, huh? (but if you do try it, don`t get it on the trim.)

I would NOT try letting the Collinite dry longer on trim, but on *paint* I did indeed let it set up/flash/etc. for a good long time. Wipe-On-Wipe-Off works OK, but letting it dry made it last a *little* bit longer for me.

Paste is fine on a well prepped surface. FK1000P is terrible on somewhat neglected paint. Yeah, yeah, I know, but sometimes winter is coming and you want to slap a coat of something on. In that case 845IW is super forgiving of paint in need of polishing or claying.

I`m with you on Poxy, very short durability for DD usage. Looks great though!

Huh, interesting! I would`ve thought vehicles like my Tahoe are in that "somewhat neglected" category, but I hardly *ever* do the normal pre-LSP prep (not even claying) before refreshing my FK1000P and it`s always been easy. Hmmm...maybe my paint is somehow not so neglected after all...perhaps because I redo the FK1000P before it`s obviously necessary.
 
Your Tahoe is probably spotless! I`m speaking about paint that is begging for a claying.
 
Dan- Guess it`s all relative :D Actually, I find that with the FK, the paint hardly ever needs clayed unless I get tar on it or somesuch.
 
Thanks all for the replies. Right now leaning towards Jescar or McKee`s. Menzerna/Jescar would be a new brand for me. Have had a good luck with McKee`s to date. Keep the suggestions coming...I`ve got some time before an order gets placed.

Just a couple of hrs ago I was in the coupe and even with the air on, the weather was warm and muggy inside the car. I was thinking how nice it would be if I was in a roadster. So, I`m envying you right now,
 
I assume by your post you mean Collinite #845? I too noticed the same thing; yes, if you wait longer to flash, you avoid most of the issue you mention.

But I`ve switched to Collinite #476. Yes it`s a paste, but very easy to use, and the durability is 5 months and counting one one coat. Best of all, it has a deeper wetter look than the glossier #845.

Correct 845. I`ve got a bottle to finish, so a couple more applications before a decision will be made. BTW - I got a baby bottle warmer and it fits the Collinite bottle perfectly. Will try to be patient and let the product flash for some additional time.
 
Hey Jason, if you want to give PowerLock+ a test run, bring that M down to Wheaton and we can do a layer or two to see if you like it.

I too found 476S to be more durable than 845, and to give a deeper and wetter look, but I always found 845 glossier...*too* glossy for my taste on certain paints. Funny how perceptions differ :D

Got a sample of that with one of my orders...sometimes think about doing a side-by-side with FK1

OK, once again I`m requesting that you school me:

How is the PolyWax with regard to staining/use on trim and texture/etc.?
How is its etching resistance (is it "never worry about bird-bombs at all"-good)?
Do a few coats typically last for about a year (understand if you`ve never gone that long w/o refreshing..)?

Just wondering how it compares in the functional sense to FK1000P, would probably be surprised if it didn`t look a little better at least on some colors.
 
If Poly Coat is anything like the "older version" I`d skip it. I wasn`t too impressed with the durability of it. I`ve had good luck with Adams LPS but since they don`t have it on here, I also like Poorboys EX-P

Nick mentioned over on AGO that they are not the same. That the new one is new formula from the ground up.
