Want a new polisher (DA)........What would you go with?

21mm throw would never work for me, too long a throw for many of the vehicles I do and I doubt I`ll *EVER* do a full-vehicle significant correction again in this lifetime.

A cheap alternative would be the Harbor Freight DA. Rougher running and more vibration than the GG6, without the lifetime warranty, but an undeniable bargain, and you can get a 2 year extra cost warranty. On Youtube, Scott, the guy on the Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing channel, did a GG6 and HF comparison test (actually, a two part video). The GG6 was rated better overall due to warranty, less vibration, and quieter operation, but the HF was actually better at keeping the pad spinning on contoured surfaces, which seems to fit in well with your desire for better paint correction.

While the HF is cheap, you should also factor in a new backing plate, as the HF backing plate isn`t usable, and also take a look at some of the Youtube videos regarding the greasing of the gear head. I know a lot of people will jump all over me on this, but I will note that the above mentioned guy, Scott, and Gary Dean, both use a HF polisher day in and day out, and they are professional detailers and use their polishers very hard, and the HF has stood up very well.

Vibration is a subjective thing...in the proper sense of the term. If a given subject has vibration issues, then that`s that and nothing else matters. Some people don`t have any issues with it at all, while others do, and to varying degrees. White Finger is no joke, but apparently it`s not all *that* common.

Once again, take a look at the Adams SK. 15mm throw and good price especially when they have a sale. I like mine. Smooth and has not bogged down on me yet.

As I keep posting every time somebody mentions it, the Flex 3401, which I absolutely like/use/recommend, just can`t finish out as well as my other units....no matter what I try the results are always the same. Sorta reminds me of how some Rotary Meisters can never get quite the same finish with a RO/DA that they do with the rotary. I hesitate to suggest *only* a Flex 3401 for that reason..but then again, if you don`t see a difference then there`s no reason to care about *my* experience. But you might not know that you *would* see a diff unless you`ve tried different units...
