Black Fire Crystal Coat

I have used BFCC on my Trans Am and other than being crazy difficult to work with am really liking the results.
my question is this- what can I use to get the paint to feel slick like a freshly polished surface? The paint feels grabby-and not smooth since coating. Applied in September , with only maintenance washes since.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

As with Angus, claying and I did a round of Spotless on mine to try it out. A bit of slickness was back, but not by much.
I like it a lot actually despite the very hard application. Looks really good and has performed better than most coatings I`ve tried.

It could be that it is contaminated as previously stated and may require a decon wash rather than claying. Surprised you used it as it`s a pain to use it. I tossed the bottle I had after having difficulties.

Some coatings are more grabby than others. You could give it a coat of blackfire crystal seal a try.

When was the last time you clayed the surface?
The grabby nature has occurred from the time of application. And hasn`t changed at all since September.
It truly doesn`t feel like surface contamination, it`s just not slick like a corrected/ polished paint normally does.
Im hoping to get that back.

I was shocked at how difficult it was to work with, I must have watched every video on the web trying to figure out where I was going wrong.
This grabby surface has been since the application, no worse today as it was then.
But , I will add this.... It works exactly as advertised. It looks amazing and it is super easy to clean.
I should try the Crystal Seal , I read that using spray wax or wax effects the coating so I haven`t tried anything out of fear of ruining my hard work applying the coating.

I tossed four of them!

I kept finding high spots on my truck last year that I had to polish off, looked candy coated but man that stuff is defective IMO (or just too hard to use for this hack)

I received a bottle in one of the Autopia mystery boxes. I think I`ll use my time applying WG Ceramic instead, after reading all the horror stories on BFCC.

IME the bottles I had flashed IMMEDIATELY and I could not coat a larger than 1x1 surface before it was nearly impossible to buff off

FWIW, the high spots that were left, were grabby, maybe that`s just the coating?

Interesting. In addition to being grabby, would you say it feels gummy/sticky now or immediately following application? Reason I ask is because I seem to remember others reporting BF Crystal Coat flashes too quickly and dries in a sticky mess before it can be buffed. I wonder if that could be what you`re dealing?

ding ding!

everybody said I was crazy when I was talking about this. All I know is this is the most difficult coating I`ve ever used and I can apply CSL black in my sleep now

WG Ceramic is super easy to apply. You`ll do great.

Ha! Yeah it must have been you Brandt!! But I know I saw similar threads over on AGO now that I`m thinking about it.

It is grabby now, but it was gummy and super sticky during the application . I could not even push the mf towel across the panel, I literally had to pull it. Someone else was liking it to "gorilla glue on the paint" and that sounds spot on.
My first coating attempt was a terrible experience, but the results are impressive aside from the grabby surface lacking slickness.

(If you have ever tossed a towel across the hood after polishing -it glides , that is not happening after coating it. From the beginning.
It just stops wherever you put it, if that makes sense.)

It sounds like your experience is inline with Brandt`s and others. Sorry. Maybe try applying a paste wax or sealant and see if that helps?

Robert (I believe, unless I recall incorrectly) showed a while back that it can be applied a little easier if out of a sprayer
I`ve had better success that way, I coated a few of my hotwheels cars but they were still a PITA to coat

512detail:Looks like you had as much fun as I was having. Strange bit of comfort from knowing I wasn`t alone in the struggle.

Angus: thanks you.
