Hey fellas-

I took delivery of a brand new 2016 Fiesta ST last Thursday. Knowing my luck, I got stuck with black. Also, to make matters more interesting, my two toy cars are, you guessed it---black! Lucky me eh?

Well, on to the ST- I bought the car and got an amazing deal as it was one of the last two on the lot and being in the car business helps.

On to the pics.

Done and done

I had the dealer leave ALL seat plastics and stickers on it. No wash. No touch. Trim to the depot for some buckets and other odds.

Finally home.

Day two- went over to the local detailer supply store and bucket up some grit guards, A new wash mitt and some collinite.

The car sat on the lot for a while as it was evident based on its condition and how faded the stickers were.

I used some autoglym soap I had laying around. I`m not sure how I feel about it? Not a lot of suds especially when compared to the megs I used before. Smells great if you care for that?

I foam gunned the car- a pal of mine lent me his. Loved it. But damn does it use a lot of soap!

As the car was soaking, I sprayed some zep degreaser on the wheels.

Next up was the decontamination. Not fun. Absolutely hated the smell but apparently it works?

I followed up after with another wash this time with the two bucket system and the autoglym again. Here you can see the suds it produces.

Next up was the claying. I used a light non abrasive example. Let me tell ya. I was shocked at the amount of crap it picked up for a new car!

(Didn`t pick up clay lube but it works)

Next was a minor paint clean. I didn`t wish to go super ocd but it brought up the shine while removing some light scratches

Here was my drive to work this morning. Heavy rain and a drive thru construction. I was amazed how after the rain storm, the hood had practically nothing! This again is Collinite 845

Cool ! Congrats on new ride.

Are you sure about the clay?

My Riccardo = blue is med/heavy, yellow is mild.

Awesome to see you using a rotary! Not too many folks using them these days. BTW great choice in using Collinite 845! great protection for minimum cost...........:bigups

Awesome car and it`s great to see someone taking care of it from the start!

Next up was the claying. I used a light non abrasive example. Let me tell ya. I was shocked at the amount of crap it picked up for a new car!

If I had a dollar for every time I heard that...

I didn`t correct my ST yet, just did the interior, Polish Angel Bellaclean, and Charisma for the leather, you should consider it. lol the leather on my ST came all dry and dehydrated, one application of Bellaclean and Charisma brought it to what leather should feel like...

I was going to correct my ST this weekend, since I am expecting my PA Cosmic, but I got booked for a correction, and full detail.

Maybe at the end of October... since the weekend after I have to do some fluid changes.

Are you on fiestastforums?

that rotary is intense for thin paint fords..., and the car shines so nice in the photos.. kinda jealous seems like you got some excellent skills there!

fiesta tip 2, every time rains over, open the hatch and use a quick detailer and wipe up all that water that will pool and stain the bumper... :(... the spoiler center also holds water :(... *sigh*

*infinite edits later...: oh yeah also check your roof weather strips, or keep an eye on them, they tend to peel. The dealer will either just replace it or glue it down, i went ahead and purchased black 3m weather strip glue, and its been holding 2 weeks strong... lol... will see how it holds up in the long run.

take a quick look at where the window trim meets the weather strip on your doors, the black wrinkle stickers can be deformed due to it being pushed up against the weather strip (at the base of the window)...

replace your RMM with something nice like Mountune or COBB RMM... cos oem is the sadness. those two have the minimal NVH... and go grab a COBB AP so the car runs like a boss!

sorry I am just excited to see fiesta STs around...

Striker- Ah, nice to see the car we`ve been discussing on the Dogs-in-cars thread! You`re sure off to a good start, that looks great.

It was intense and I don`t think I`m a big rotary fan to be honest. Yes it`s great but I`m always on the nervous side with it. If my dad didn`t borrow my pc, I would have used that.

Is there a fix for the bumper holding water?

Spoiler is plastic I`m not too worried about it. Plus when you floor it it will go away ;)

The weather stripping worries me tho. Yes I`m on the forums as well.

As I was polishing the fiesta, the trans am looked bored in the corner so I had to snap one :)

No it just sits on that flat area where the latch is. The water doesnt slope to the drains on the side :(...

Park on a slant?

Yea the spoiler makes for a great bird bath. I went out after I read your msg and sure enough

Love the way the einszett rubber and vinyl protectant work on plastic. Also a brush is a must have tool for any engine bay cleaning job. What a difference.

wow awesome engine detail! that`s kinda my weakness, I don`t have the patients for things covered I rarely do them...:(

Striker- That`s the way! Looks good. How long do you expect that 1Z to last? How do you plan to maintain it? I ask because I had to give up the "dressing approach" in favor of something more durable.

I`ve got no clue sir. As for maintaining the clean bay? That will probabLy be a weekly, by weekly thing for me to do. Probably nothing more than a light de greaser diluted 4:1 for upkeep and call it a day.

That`s a good question about he 1z. How long is it supposed to last??

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Striker- No idea how long the 1Z will last...watch that you don`t "clean it off" along with any dirt by cleaning too aggressively. You shouldn`t need to degrease, I do fine with just some shampoo mix or even IUDJ, but then my engine compartments aren`t done with a dressing either.

See how it works for you, just don`t let it go too long between redos if the 1Z isn`t holding up. Much easier to touch-up than to repeat the Big Job approach!

Yea for sure. Well I do have a bottle of their plastic cleaner too but I`m thinking I`d save that product for when I actually go and re apply the 1z
