It`s gonna take a BIG bottle of Dr. Color Chip

I decided to drive my El Camino for a few days last week, so the DD Lacrosse got the garage space for a few days. Of course, I had to freshen it up a bit while it was inside, so a bit of DG 105 took care of any traces of tree / bird droppings left after a rinseless wash. Thursday, I switched cars, tucking the Camino back inside. Later that night, coming home from work, some young lady in a big Lexus SUV decided her Starbucks craving was strong enough to risk a left turn against oncoming traffic, right into the left side of my Lacrosse.
Now it`s no longer a virgin:

Damage went along the side to the quarter panel:

For comparison, here`s the right side:

Damage was just over $8K, but since the car was a clean, loaded CXL with only 51,000 miles, they`re gonna fix it.

I guess for the next 3-4 weeks I can try out some of my newly acquired products on a rental car.

Sorry about your car. That is a shame. At least the insurance company didn`t "total" it and give you what they think it`s worth. I hope the body shop does a great job on your car.

That sucks, and thank God it wasn`t the Elco!
I seen a nice Elco with a Laguna S3 frontend up for sale on pgh CL tempting !

Hope the Buick ordeal gets sorted out

Billy Jack :(
So sorry this had to happen to your baby...
Hope this did not cause you or your family any injuries as well..
Dang inattentive drivers!!! Did she even apologize for doing this to you ?

You know its bad out there when they are building things into vehicles to stop, because the dingbat at the wheel is not focused on driving any longer...
They even have commercials on TV about it showing dummies not watching and the car stops for them and then, they snap out of it... :(

What should happen is a big boxing glove comes out of the headrest and wacks them on the side of the head to wake them up...

I am also glad it wasn`t your El Camino...
Hope it gets all worked out better than before for you..

Dang, sorry about your car, I hope you didn`t get injured. Happy to hear it`ll be taken care of,hopefully the unibody frame damage isn`t bad.

The worst time of day to drive around here is lunchtime. Everyone is in a hurry and no one pays attention. I don`t see how self driving cars would work with drive-thru dining. But with the average age of drivers going up, self braking cars may save some lives. My Mother is 79 and is a scary driver. I`ve told her if she has one more accident I`m going to have to pull her license. She has had 3 fender benders in the last 18 months.

If you ever get a chance to go on a ride along in a squad that has an ALPR or LPR (Automatic license plate readers) you will never want to drive again. There are so many people out their driving that are revoked, suspended, no insurance, etc. it is truly scary.

Billy Jack....OUCH. Sorry, and somewhat frightening, to see what a typical young.dumb.butt.distracted fast-food-foodie did to your ride. ` THEY` are Out There? Kinda like the Zombie Apocalypse?

Where we live, we deal with the beer-enhanced "demographic population" that seem to be pervasive near border areas. Add, to that a large retiree group (I am retiree, but I DO still TRY to drive?), & the usually-distracted Millennials & Pokemon junkies..? Gads..! Reckon, all these dummies must have mighty good car insurance? At least for the first, second, or third time `round? Here,..many have zero insurance.

Bumper Cars, more than ever.

Remember the old saying that you should always wear clean underwear in case the paramedics need to cut your clothes? I say, it`s a unfortunate that you had an accident, however, it`s a good thing you got into an accident in a clean car! Sorry, I know that was dumb...

Ow sorry to hear! I hope you`re ok! Even if you don`t think you obtained any injuries, I`d recommend at least getting checked out. I thought I was fine after my accident and sure enough about 2 weeks later I started to get severe lower back pain, at the 3 week mark it was bad enough that I called my insurance to see if it was too late and sure enough the time I had to make an injury claim had expired.

p.s. That`s a CLEAN Buick.

Thanks everyone for the "condolences".
Good info, Ray. Since I had a bit of a neck snap from the side impact, they`re keeping the medical claim open for another month. As much as the damage to my DD hurts, I`m thankful that I somehow decided to switch cars that morning. Had I been in the same situation with my El Camino, things would have been far more complicated. You just don`t place an order at the Chevy parts counter for bumpers, trim or sheet metal for an `87 El Camino. Even though I have "declared value" coverage with the Camino, damage of that extent probably would have left me with the heartbreak of a nice check, but no Camino.

Since I work for a Chevy Dealer, I had requested a favor from Enterprise regarding my rental car. I didn`t care what model, but I wanted a GM car if i was going to be driving it for a month. It took them an extra day, since they had to pull one from another location. First they called and only had a Chevy Spark. I said I`m 6`3", can`t you do better that that? I`ll give you an extra day if that helps. Today they called and told me they had an Equinox for me, would that be acceptable? I guess they got the last laugh-here`s what they brought:

The agent said "We didn`t have time to wash it. Is that acceptable to you?"
To which I replied "When it comes time to turn it in, you won`t have to ask that of the next person"
