The owner of this vehicle has been a friend of mine through the Saleen Club for some time. I am extremely grateful for his business and be able to call him my friend. This is the fourth vehicle I have done for him and we are already planning on a fifth for his son. He loves Fox Body Mustang`s and has excellent taste in cars.

The car is a 1986 Mustang SVO Dark Shadow Blue with 30,000 original miles. This car spent most of its life up North and has been in storage for the past 15 years. Needless to say, when he called me I wasn`t exactly sure what I was getting into, but knew it was going to be worth my time. Anyhow, on to the good stuff....

Correction: Rupes 15 MKII, B&S Blue Uro-Tech, Sonax 4/6
LSP: Poorboy`s Blackhole and Natty`s Black
Wheels & Tires: Meg`s D143 and Gyeon Tire
Engine Bay: OPC and Adam`s VRT diluted.
Interior: Poorboy`s Glass Cleaner, Meg`s Quik Interior, and OPC.

Upon arrival the swirls are obvious.

Under the lights the defects are much more distinct.

Some test spots gave me some pretty good results for single stage paint. All of the correction was done with a Rupes 15 MKII and B&S Blue Pads with Sonax 4/6.

Some of these final shots were rushed. I was really pressed for time because the owner was ready to leave. I don`t like to keep a customer waiting, but I felt it was necessary.

Thank you for the complement Migue! I agree, it is a beautiful car. I can`t wait to see it when the spoiler and side skirts are refinished and put back on.

Awesome work...have not seen a Mustang SVO from that era in quite a while. I remember them because of the unique nose and hood scoop. Was that single stage or color/clear?

Yes, it is very unique and functional. I meant to get a picture of the engine bay, but forgot to. The scoop actually goes straight to the intercooler that is facing up.

Single stage. I am not 100% positive, but I believe that most mustangs were until `91.

Great work, great turnaround! I bet at one time, the owner probably thought he needed a new paint job. Great looking car.

Always love to see an older car brought back to its glory. I almost bought one in 1986. I tried to open the hood and the hood latch bent (not sure if I was pushing it the right way) so I walked away. Good looking car.

Thank you! Luckily the new owner knew where to take it as soon as he brought it home. :)

It is funny that you say that. When I went to clean the engine bay it really took me a minute to get the hood open. It isn`t a latch you pull up like most vehicles, but one you pull from right to left above the passenger headlight.

XxBoostinxX- Great job on a *wonderful* car! No kidding the owner has great taste :D

Wonder if he changed the decklid/hatch...I thought all those had the dual wings.

He definitely does! He has Saleen with around 600 rwhp and a 4-eye Fox Body Convertible with a `03 Cobra Motor and Whipple Supercharger. Both are unreal cars.

He has the wing and side skirts off to be refinished while I worked on the car. I told him I wanted some photos when they were put back on.

Neat car, good work. Liked the various 50/50 shots.

Like those tires too! (Toyo R1Rs?)
Thank you! Saw a lot of good photo opportunities that I wanted to take advantage of.

Yes, brand new Toyo`s. The wheels were just refinished also.

..He definitely does. I am trying to let get him to bring me his two high power cars. He has a `92 Saleen with around 600 rwhp and a 4-eye Fox Body Convertible with a `03 Cobra Motor and Whipple Supercharger. Both are unreal cars...

Ah, I`ve always loved the Fox body cars ever since we did Bondurant in the early `90s.

Actually, I like it with the plain hatch...sleeper look :D
