removing water spots from Gtechniq C1

Looks like some well water from my sprinkler system made its way onto my truck. Does anyone know of a non-aggressive method of removing the spots with out removing the coating. Tried washing and QD spray to no avail. I`m a lil apprehensive to try clay, pretty sure it`ll remove the coating.....cheers

gyeon water spot will remove the water spot but gyeon says it may remove the hydrophobic layer of a coating (not very familiar with C1)-- they say it will remove the water spot and leave the coating but the hydrophobic layer will be removed most likely

maybe that helps

Which coating and how well did you prepare the surface before applying it ?

i applied Gtechniq C1 October of last year, its worked perfectly until the other day when well water from my sprinkler made onto my car.

the steps i took to apply:

I used the Gyeon water spot remover didn`t seem to have big impact on the water beading, I`ll have to double check after reading this...

I used it to remove spots on my Cquartz that was applied in June, seemed to work well only downside was the instructions stated to wash again after application...<_< Just hoping the spots don`t come back..

Edit: One of the reasons I went with it because they said it was coating safe lol...

The biggest advantage of Q2M WaterSpot is its complete safety for paint and most of all - coatings. Due to inappropriate maintenance, water spots may become an issue on fresh coatings, but owning to product’s properties, Q2M WaterSpot does not affect or damage the coating. You can therefore remove the most undesirable defects by using O2M WaterSpot without needing to polish and re-apply the quartz coat.

pardon the bad grammar, lol

Maybe only affects the weaker coatings possibly?

I found that right after I posted lol...Idk I`m not impressed with Cquartz the damn water spots are back...and I really don`t want to keep using the water spot remover after every wash. The coating does seem less hydrophobic. Just washed with ONR tonight I`ll see what the dew looks like in the morning...Also applied some Sonax BSD to the hood to see how it works.

used carpro water spot remover last week. worked well and removed all the water spots but it seemed to kill the hydrophobic behavior of my 6 month old mckee37 coating. still a great product to be able to remove spots without polishing

maybe I let the spot remover sit too long on the surface? I still like the coating for the price

What was your process? I washed my paint and applied while still wet then basically massaged it on the paint instead of spraying/spread/dwell I did spraying/spread/gently worked on surface, slow enough to where it could dwell a bit yet be moved around and if I recall correctly,I rinsed within a minute .

I just double checked the label and it does not state dwelling as part of the process, instead it states to work in the surface with media, so maybe it did sit a bit too long in your case?

I can`t edit posts while on my tablet so I`d like to add that I was very worried Spotless was going to remove or weaken the coating but it held up well, and I even sprayed Megs Wheel Brightener as an attempt to remove the spots (before I purchased Spotless) in a small area to test out and didn`t see any negative effects.

I applied it on a dry paint. a few sprays and spread it out with MF applicator. let it dwell and wiped it off with a damp mf towel. when I wiped it off, notice it still had some spotting so I reapplied it in some areas. I did my final wipe down with Onr

I wonder if the wipe down VS. a thorough rinse may have anything to do with it?? I cannot compare since since I`ve only needed to use once and I rinsed the car thoroughly after use.
