F Type Referral: 2017 S Version

I did an F Type Jag for a gentleman about a month ago or so and he was kind enough to refer a friend of his who also owns a brand new F Type to me for Finest treatment. (I gotta pick better friends so I can own one too!! LOL).

When I saw it I convinced him to have me do the wheels and I`m glad I did but more importantly, so is he. I had described it (without doing the wheels) that it would be like going to a black tie event with unpolished shoes. Needless to say, his shoes got polished. Here it is as it arrived:

I couldn`t wait to get at these!!

Even though it`s a `17, he`s had it since April. It was scheduled for a one step, but I gave it more where it needed it.

First up was to wash the wheels. The barrels were just washed with a Daytona brush and Megs HW to protect the discs. The calipers were cleaned with a small brush and some Zep Citrus, but I held back really going to town on them since I was going to be pulling the wheels anyway. The tires were cleaned with Zep 505. The faces were cleaned with a demoted mitt and Megs HW.

The car was then washed with Megs HW followed by a decontamination wash of IronX paste. That was followed by being clayed with a clay towel. Finally it was blown off with my Master Blaster. After confirming the torque specs, I started on the wheels. Each barrel had an annoying sticker on it which I removed and then it was intensively cleaned with Tarminator followed by DG Squeaky Clean. Here`s what one barrel looked like after being cleaned with both:

The barrels were coated with DLux. Here is one just having been coated:

The calipers were also cleaned with Squeaky Clean which really made the yellow JUMP!

The rear wheels had both the yellow and black calipers and both were coated with Dlux:

For the front wells, I cleaned them quickly again with ONR and then coated them with DLux. The wheel was then re-installed and the tire shot with Opti Bond prior to being lowered down. The wheels were torqued to factory spec. Here`s one having just been done:

The paint was polished with Essence and a yellow B/S pad + 3401 and, where needed, a black wool TB pad was used + M100. Here are some scratches in the LR 1/4 panel that were quickly dealt with via that combo:

I ended up having to do a few paint chip repairs too. The paint, side and rear glass, head and tail lights were all both polished and coated. The coating was Finest and it received the customary double coat. The windshield was also coated with Fly By Forte. We both had scheduling issues, plus it is due to heavily rain tomorrow, so we decided to deliver it tonight. I had all my lights on so he could thoroughly inspect it and of course all the after shots are inside. Here`s how it ended up:

Thanks for looking! Comments are always appreciated.

Excellent work! I love the F type, especially the S. I`ll take a lighter V6 supercharged over a lumbering V8 any day, especially with those ceramics.

Beautiful as always.

Perfect analogy.
Thanks very much Ron. Yes, I will probably use that again.

Awesome work!
Thanks Mike for both the comment and for you taking the time to make it.

That "Cat" got the perfect treatment Richy. Excellent job.
Thanks very much Pat!

That car is sweet Richy, nice job on the dance shoes, great job as always.

Dude, I COMPLETELY agree with you. That motor sounds amazing on start up and is just one sonorous beast! I bet those brakes stop that thing on a dime! (I just wish it was red)

looks good and ready for the black tie event
Thanks. It looks stately in that colour.

Beautiful work! Outstanding job on the wheels and exhaust. It`s the details that makes everything else pop.
Thanks so much. Actually when he was walking around it, he stopped, looked at the exhaust and his jaw dropped. He couldn`t believe his eyes.

Perfection, thank u for sharing.
Thanks so much. I was very proud of how it turned out!

Very nice Richy..Do you use a heat lamp when doing 2 coats of Finest?
Ron, not in this bloody heat!!

Looks awesome!
Thanks kindly.
