i really, really hate being technologically challenged

I just finally learned how to use a microwave, and I have never been able to use the video player with our TV. I always have to call for the kids. But I promise to do a review using my wife`s black 2010 Scion XB. I`ll even use an Ultima Microfiber applicator.

If I get selected I will use the product on my test car. It has been at the mechanic (s) for 6 weeks and looks nothing like it did in this picture. I plan on testing out CGs Clean Slate on the beast at the same time. I will happily provide a review.

I agree to do a review. And probably this car will be the one.

I would like to know the difference from an acrylic based product versus non-acrylic. What are the advantages and disadvantages.

Good question, anybody know any answers ??? Right now I`m thinkin` nail polish is acrylic ?? :dunno:

I`m not a chemist but I did some research and unless I completely missed the mark I think an acrylic based product is a very close cousin to plastic. When you think acrylic, you should think plastic. There are benefits to an acrylic

Sources from Wiki:
  • Acrylic - Chemical compounds that contain the acryloyl group derived from acrylic acid.
  • Acrylic acid (IUPAC: prop-2-enoic acid) is an organic compound.
  • Acrylic elastomer (a natural or synthetic polymer having elastic properties, e.g., rubber.) has characteristics of heat and oil resistance.

Keep in mind that an organic compound is any member of a large class of gaseous, liquid, or solid chemical compounds whose molecules contain carbon, not to be confused with a natural compound (people usually think natural and organic are the same which is not true in terms of chemistry). A natural product is a chemical compound or substance produced by a living organism—that is, found in nature. In the broadest sense, natural products include any substance produced by like (like carnauba).

So if we know a polymer is a bunch of monomers chained together then an acrylic polymer is a bunch of acrylic monomers chained together. I`m going to guess that as far as polymers are concerned, acrylic based polymers are the "strongest" in terms of heat and chemical resistance. Whether you prefer the looks or performance of an acrylic or non-acrylic polymer is up to the user to decide. It looks like both have pros and cons.

Keep in mind there is a 50% chance I`m completely wrong :) but I hope I`m at least in the right ball park.

And of course as soon as I finish I get an email from Ultima themselves to answer Bunky`s question :)

Polycharger Acrylic Polymer is a blend of both a polymer and Acrylic to create a slick and hard protective shield. Acrylics dry harder than most polymers creating a stronger shield and a higher hydrophobic effect and prevents bugs from etching into finish. This formula gives both a slick high shine with the polymer and strong hydrophobic effect from the Acrylic. Slickness and shine takes about 6 hours to see full effect. Water beading will be very tight and rounded even after many washes.
