To mitiate the Cuff Issue I fold the cuff over so it`s inside the mitt.

Oh, and I do Wear mitts when I`m using them on the undercarriage.

Heh heh, [INSERT some quip along the lines of "but then I`d have to kill him"]

But seriously, it`s really not all that big a deal once you`ve done it enough times. The first few dozen when I was figuring it all out were *tough*, and even the next however-many were kinda brutal, but after a while it all got to be second nature, especially after I figured out how I could *safely* cut some corners (e.g., with my boosted water pressure the foamgun does most of the rinsing automatically, and can be used to fill the mitt if it doesn`t need a proper rinse/dunking).

But I guess it`s another of those subjective things and eventually it all just clicked for this particular subject. Having the redundant systems on each side of the wash bay helps a lot.

Really? I prefer to wear it. Always have. Zero chance of dropping it. I had no idea I was in such a minority.

Hold it.

Simply because it has 2 sides. So, I`m going to flip it half way through.

I`m far too lazy to flip it if it`s being worn like a glove.

I don`t understand people who use a wash mitt with 1 side, like the CarPro mitt.

I hold, my little one wears when she helps.

I thought I was the weird one, why do we all buy mitts then HOLD them??????????????????????????????????????? lol

Just buy a wash pad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don`t know why I do.

Exactly! Why are there so many wash mitts and so few wash pads?? Autopia offerings are 14 wash mitts, 2 wash pads, 6 sponges and 1 wedge.

I have been using the Synthetic Sheepskin pads for years Synethic Sheepskin Wash Pad, but would like to add a couple microfiber pads IF I could find them.

I did find a small 1/2 size 3.5" x 7" black microfiber wash pad that is perfect for wheels and wheel wells (along with a Speed Master Jr. brush).

Maybe after this poll the good folks at PBMG will make some private label wash Pads. Like a few microfiber wash pads?? Delete the cuff and sew up the opening; seems pretty simple.

Griot`s makes a noodle style in pad style. For the glove type I have tucked the cuff inside (a must for me) and used it like a pad.

Bingo! And exactly the reason I started this poll. If 80% of us use a wash mitt like a wash pad why aren`t there more pad options on the market?!?!

Great question. I start with wearing it and that lasts about one panel then I switch to hold

After saying how I thought that style of wash medium (whether pad or mitt) was not something I`d like, I finally decided to try one. I was right, I utterly hate it and am going to stick with mitts/pads that have finer, more numerous strands. To each their own...but that thing won`t even fit into tight areas I need to clean, much less do so with minimal applied pressure.

Easy answers:

-Can`t fill it with wash solution (and have it retain that solution for a while as it seeps out) when wearing it
-Worn like a glove, it`s far too easy to apply excessive pressure; when I hold it I whisk it *so* gently across the panels that such minimal applied pressure would be extremely difficult to duplicate when wearing it. I *need* the minimal contact pressure in order for my dislodge-and-flush approach to work- too much pressure and the dirt gets trapped in the wash medium instead of being flushed away

Why not use a pad instead?

Wash pads, even the ones with a sponge in the center, don`t do the "seeping wash solution" thing as well IME. And duplicating the minimal applied pressure that I can use with a mitt is basically impossible to do with only one hand (other hand is operating foamgun).

When I hold a pad against the panel, it contacts the panel too tightly for the foamgun to flush-and-dislodge the dirt; the dirt ends up stuck to the pad and when that gets moved across the panel under pressure the result is marring.

OK, I guess my foamgun-centric wash method puts me outside the box on this topic, but if I could wash marring-free with some other method (and I spent quite a few decades trying) I would ;) I have to employ "conventional" wash techniques for certain panels (e.g., underside of hood) and no matter *how* careful I am, those panels don`t stay as nice as the ones that I wash my way.
