What did you do detailing wise today?

So as promised, I did a "WG Uber RW" on my "WG Uber Ceramic Coated" Jeep SRT8.

I had mixed results due to a film of tree sap that had adhered to the coating, almost exclusivly on the horisontal panels (hood and roof). The roof has CP Essence topped with CP Reload the hood had CP essence topped with two layers of WG Uber Ceramic Coating.

My Jeep had been exposed to 6 days of non-stop rain and the Maple trees above were in bloom (dropping helicopter seeds and little shells)

After rinsing the coated hood:

Despite the visible contamination (film of tree sap), I proceeded with the rinseless wash starting on the roof. I wiped gently flipping often but didn`t notice the beading or sheeting return to the roof. As I was drying the roof off section by section I noticed an odd water pattern (looked like ghosting of water marks). It actually was the clean area beading/sheeting VS the sap covered area`s not beading/sheeting water. I picked up another Rinseless soaked towel and redid the roof and it did get a little better but there was still sap on the roof. Once dry it was so thin that it`s not visible. The only way to tell was wiping with a damp cloth and seeing how the water behaved. I`ve never noticed this before so I figured it must be one of those CarPro Reload issues so I moved on to the glass then the hood.

The glass came clean perfectly in one wipe (too many products have been applied to the glass to say for sure what`s the current acting protectant). I could tell it was clean because as I wiped the RW would sheet right off the wiped sections but not the unwiped sections. The front windshield also had no beading/sheeting during the rinse but after one wipe it was back in full force.

I moved on to the hood expecting the same results as the glass but I got results similar to the roof. An odd water beading/sheeting pattern that doesn`t look like any LSP. This is because the RW was only partially cleaning the SAP from the hood. So I redid it 2 more times (3 times total) and it finally started to come clean again (bead and sheet like normal). On the third wipe down I literally scrubbed the hood with a lot of pressure to get the coating clean (very un-autopian). I did not mar or scratch the hood because it was already clean of abrasive debris and my towel was fresh.

The vertical panels were a breeze and came clean after one wipe as they usually would with RW, despite being significantly dirtier (less sap more dirt from driving).

All and all I`ll never RW the coating again if my paint is covered with a tree sap film. I`ll still do RW just not after it`s rained on the paint.

Would I recommend WG Uber RW for WG Uber Coating? Maybe. It really depends on where and how the car is kept. If it`s kept outside under tree that leaves an organic film, then no. If it`s kept out from underneath trees then yes I would recommend WG Uber RW for WG Uber Coated cars.

Note: the pictures of the SAP issue are on my SLR, as my cell phone photos couldn`t capture the issue. I plan to include them in a second review of WG Uber along with more details.

Summary: once the coating has a road grime film or organic tree sap film its harder to clean than conventional LSP (same goes for CarPro Reload and CarPro Dlux).

I gave the dirty girl a two bucket wash .., man wash she full of dust & pollen glued down by rain.

This was Saturday morning. I don`t care too much for my DD so I didn`t go all out. Engine bay was done maybe a few months ago but there is a TON of wind and dirt where I work and it finds its way everywhere.

I decided to give my rims and engine compartment a little needed love but ended up doing a full wash. while cleaning the engine compartment I noticed what seemed like a little oil staining on the oil fill port and got a little aggressive with it and realized too late that it was the plastic valve cover showing through the paint and ended up taking most of the paint off on the one side. I will coat it with some Sonas which arrived a little later. I also used some Hydro2 on the painted areas.

I did a two (technically 4) bucket wash that completely restored the coating. I used 1oz D101 APC and 1oz D110 Hyper wash in 3 gallons of hot water and used a Merino wool wash mitt.

The bad news - My pressure washer broke while rinsing off the paint before washing. Leaking water internally. It`s a cheap Karcher PW less than a year old.

I noticed the reload topped roof still doesn`t bead or sheet water very well (better than after the URW but still way below what I`d expect from any LSP). The comparison to the WG Uber Ceramic Coated panels is night and day. I`m going to give Reload one more chance on my roof and if it doesn`t work out I`m moving on to Sonus Ion (it`s been sitting on my self unopened for far too long).

The gloss is back and in full effect (no more organic contaminants adhered to the coating)

How long has this application of reload been on for? And whats the base LSP it`s over?

Awesome shot!! I love the reflection. What camera gear do you use?

I was well warned by fellow Aautopians (namely Accumulator), so I can`t say I didn`t expect it.

I applied it on May 21st, 2016 so it`s been on the roof less than one month. The base was CarPro Essense so it should be compatible (it was just a test). I much prefer to test out a LSP before applying it to my whole car and the roof makes a perfect test ground.

The application went smoothly. I waited 3 hours after polishing with Essence to apply reload. I sprayed Reload on the paint directly and spread with a microfiber towel and wiped off with another towel. flipping to fresh sides after each section. The entire roof behaves the same (it`s not like the application went better in some areas than others as is typical with user error).

Thank`s Angus! It`s an older Canon T1i (should be able to pick one up for $100). The trick is getting to know how to use it and all the settings so your pictures come out great without post editing.

I finally pulled the trigger on a gallon of Megs D115 and the measuring cap. (A Father`s Day present from the wife ... shhhhhhh. ) ;)

Wow, less then 1 month of durability between to "compatible" products is terrible. And it sounds like you did everything right when it came to application too.

Very nice! Even though I`ve been getting better at using the various manual modes on my Sony A6000, I`m still a little guilty of using Lightroom for post processing...

detailed a friend`s bmw after he left it sitting next to a water sprinkler system. the dried, baked on water spots had to be polished off. claying the paint sounded like sand paper. cp essence on white pads followed up with sonus ion coating by hand.

later gave a neighbor`s buick a bath and a coat of bfwd polymer spray.

Got some nice SHINE

How was essence to work with?

I like it, but a little bit of learning curve for me, and probably you too. us old wax waster guys are used to "if a little is good, more will be a lot better", but essence works better if you don`t overdo it. I also want to try it as a aio stand alone, but not sure what the durability will be.

even if you use too much, removal is still easy, but you`ll need more mf towels and clean the pads more often. not a big deal.:bubba

I recall reading that tps buffs completely out if worked long. Like xmt 360.

Did you use it that way? I have a bottle just never used it.

Nice job btw
