Rupes P808 Protective Sealant - Unboxing and First Impressions

Picked up the new Rupes P808 Protective Sealant during the big Memorial Day sale. It has been an absolute joy to work with the last few days, and I had an opportunity with a break in the rain to grab the camera out to post this unboxing thread. This spray sealant is really easy to work with, spreads easily across the paint and the slickness and feeling that this leaves behind after that final buff is something that really stood out to me. This left an addictive super slick feeling finish. Did a quick light prep of the front of the test cars with Meguiar`s Ultimate Polish and Eraser prior to applying. Didn`t notice any residual oils left behind by P808 while using a light source, this buffs off very cleanly from the paint. As Mike mentioned in his overview thread, this is not a product scented after anything in particular, it has a very light chemical smell to it.

The initial beading is great, this is not the hyper aggressive water beading type, I`d say it`s a bit more hydrophobic than the Wolfgang DGPS 3.0 and Blackfire Wet Diamond sealants. It has a very noticeable water sheeting rate that should easily satisfy most enthusiasts. So my expectations for P808 here is for it to be just as durable as the Blackfire/Wolfgang/Menzerna sealants, and for it to showcase its evidence as good as they do over the months. If this can do that in a spray form that buffs off just as cleanly and as slick as them while maintaining a noticeable water behavior up through the 4 month range, that`s something that will be impressive. To me, there`s this gap in observable durability that exists between the Blackfire and Wolfgang spray sealants (including the WOWA`s), and their main sealant counterparts. I`m hoping P808 can be that product that bridges that gap in durability without sacrificing on application issues that other durable spray sealants might have. But so far, my initial impression is I should have taken more advantage of the huge sale and gotten more than one 500ml bottle to work with, it looks great on the paint!

Big thanks also to Ray and the team at Autopia for working through a very busy couple of weeks to take the time to do some price matching and working out backorders as well. Thanks Ray, the service has been outstanding!

I was really impressed with it as well. Looks good, goes on easy with no streaks and sheeted well. I never leave stuff alone long enough to test durability lol.

It`s a great product. It`s been on my car for 2 weeks. You are spot on with the beading and sheeting. The slickness is great.

It`s nice of Rupes to include a towel with it as well.

Nice review. I like the pics as well.

I was one of the Rupes winners at AGO. Got a bottle of this on the way - along with the QD and their 2 new soaps.

Good to see a firsthand review of this. It`s on my list of must-haves... Gotta sell my other spray sealants that just don`t cut it, though.

Thanks for the review !

Sounds like a good thing. I would guess that as a sealant that it might take time to cure properly so the initial beading might not be great. Mebbe next day I was thinking till I saw Mike chime in.

Whoa! That Honda has impressive paint and reflections!

Hands down the best looking paint I`ve seen photographed on any honda to date.
