how do you go about searching for a detailing job within your area? ive tried CL and others but nothing but dealers. any imput

Very hard to find a detailer looking for help, these dealers in our area dont care or dont know anything about true detailing. You might have to start solo and work from there...........................Angelo ( AMG Classic Detailing )

Start your own business. I had never worked in a detail shop before in my life and just turned a hobby into a source of income. Startup costs are minimal and not too much work to get your name out there to get started.

Now if youre set on just getting a job... Goto some shops and ask if they are hiring.

well id love to start a business, i just feel my lack of long experience would pushcustomers away.

Do a couple of jobs for family and take before and after pictures. Lack of experience shouldnt play a huge role as long as youre doing it right and can show that you are getting great results. There are people out there in shops that have done this for years, but that doesnt mean its done properly.

very true, i mean i have done about 10 cars so far for minor paint correction but using chemical guys stuff i wasnt getting the results im getting now with menzurna and hd products

Drive by one of those streets where they have several paint and body shops. I do so everyday on my way to the gf`s house.

One actually had a banner, "looking for body man, polisher, etc" - granted, that`s likely NOT the kind of detailing you want to do, but it could be a start.

Or, like others have said, start your own business.
