Losing the way!

I don't get it Re all the "stuff that simply won't happen" yet gets taken seriously as if it were likely. I don't find it entertaining; I find it stupid, and I'm adamantly opposed to Stupidity as an operating principle. I'm trying to *not* find it personally irritating as I don't want to be one of those [individuals] who rants about stuff they can't/won't influence. But it still seems like a whole lotta people are simply being irrational (the word "silly" comes to mind) about something that's quite serious.

I can't imagine that I'm somehow missing something, but between the "can't possibly win this General Election" and "can't even explain how [some campaign promise] might be done" it just seems like people aren't taking this thing seriously. It's not some Reality TV show, it's an important moment IRL for cryin' out loud...people oughta quit [messing] around and get real.

(Meanwhile, back at the ranch.... Hillary is scheduling the movers and Bubba is dreaming of fresh interns.)

well it really is all too silly, at least to the rest of the world's perspective .. our process is too long and doesn't even represent the people .. delegates? electoral college?? really ???
Every other country that does allow voting is a majority rules ..period!!

I wonder what Bill did with the Humidor ? Can Mr. Haney really sell the American people? Does Reality TV rule our minds? Can Bernie get me a refund on college?

Can you put yourself as an outsider and take our system serious? just some random thoughts :D

There are options for reduced college education -- join the military. Why not require mandatory service to all?

In 1967, I was about to get Drafted into the Army and after 6 months, sent to 'Nam...

What a bummer that would have been... I might not be here posting if I had gone and been lit up by the zillions of pajama wearing people coming out of the tunnels below us...

Lucky for me, I got 1 - the only 1 - spot left because someone dropped off the list to get into the USAF, which turned out to be much safer in some respects when I went overseas anyway...

And I agree - draft these kids into the military and take away their electronics !!! It would be so worth it !!

Going to have to - Learn - to keep your head UP, while the D.I. is screaming at you from 1 inch away... How's that going to work out??? :)

And think about it - NO SAFE ZONES/SPACES for the little CupCakes !!! :) Love It !!!! :)

Where do I vote YES for this ??? :)

IMHO

It would also help get rid of some of the "me, me, me", and teach work and discipline...............

4 years of service for 4 years of education makes a whole lot more sense than free education across the board. Oh wait, isn't that something like what we have available now? ;)

I am sure non of them are frivolously or falsely on SSDI , but at least now the ones cheating the system will get free college on top of a free check. There best example they give in the article is Alzheimer's a disease that mostly effects elderly, how many elderly people still have student loans? Also thats nice of Obama to put that on next years budget to take that loss after he is gone.

Since we're on the topic... I figured I'd share some fun "facts" about the military today.

Shortly before I got out (July '13) we returned from deployment and had an influx of new privates (like normal). One of them was complaining because they only got to use the phones on the weekend. When I went through we got 2 phone calls - one when we got there to tell our family we got there and one right before graduation to see if they were coming. We had 3 minutes each call and if they didn't answer, bummer. So, this is kind of how it went...

Her: blah blah blah blah... we only got to use the phone on the weekends.
Me: Really?
Her: Yeah, we had to lock them in our lockers the rest of the week.
Me: Wait... what? You got your cellphone at basic?
Her: Yeah, but only on the weekend.

Also, no drill sergeants at AIT anymore for the Army. Just regular old NCO's that can't do nearly as much as they should be able to (experienced this while reclassing and doing half their job for them.)

It's not like it really matters, they're bringing these new soldiers up to a corrupt system with NCO's and Officers that try to live outside the system. People are too lazy to know the reg's though and other people are too lazy to do their jobs so they get away with it.

Anyway, mini-rant over. :D

Now basic trainees train in tennis shoes instead of combat boots, because they hurt their feet. It went to Hell in 1985 when women and men started training together. I went through basic training in 1985 and everyone was confused about the "rules" about fraternization. It was funny, you couldn't go to a port-a-john without interrupting a sexual encounter. I saw many drill sergeants get accused of having sex with female trainees. Rules had to be implemented where a drill sergeant had to have another drill sergeant with him at all times for his own protection. Now they are letting females be Army Rangers. I don't know how it is being done, but I will hazard a guess that the standards are either being ignored or lowered to a point where the standards don't even matter. There is a place for women in the military, but there are also places in the military where they don't need to be. The next real war ought to be fun. IMHO.
