Premixing a gallon of distilled H20 and D114

Just as the title suggests. I put one ounce of Meguiar's rinseless D114 into a Wallyworld $.88 gallon of distilled water.
No more mixing dilution ratios. At around $1.10 a gallon I can use this stuff all day long. I'm waiting to try Wolfgang Uber rinseless and will do multiple dilution gallons of Uber. Easy to transport too. Might have to do this with my Megs super degreaser and APC.

I don't do a lot of rinseless or waterless but I'm using my 128:1 for general cleaning, door jambs, door sills, etc.
For anyone doing a Gary Dean method you won't waste any D114 by pre mixing this way.

I'm sure many of you guys already do this, just wanted to share how much of a headache/time saver it is. I hate doing dilution ratios. Just pour into my spray bottles and forget it.

****Warning**** Those of you with small children or kids coming and going. Make sure you relabel and safely store your gallon milk jugs. D114 smells like Kool-aid and looks very much like a berry type juice. Not being a smarta$$ just being overly cautious.

great tip...one question...do you (or anyone else reading this post) always use distilled water for your solutions? I appreciate that this may seem like a stupid question to most on here, but we who are new to this obsession need to know

I always use distilled. When I used to use ONR, using tap water would change the color of the ONR over time and while reportedly still effective it worried me about using it. Besides distilled water is so cheap.

I use distilled for everything except APC/Degreasers.

Same here, but I may still use the premixed gallon milk jugs, just use tap water instead of distilled. Although at $.88 for distilled it won't break the bank. $.22 per fill of a 32oz bottle.

Just found another use for my D114. I used my 128:1 D114 spray bottle for wetsanding lube. I used the Mirka Abralon, 2000,3000 @ 4000 3in wetsanding disks to fix a poor paint job on my 10 year old Sienna. I should have taken photos:(

pics or it didn't happen.......... :D

I got no guts to wet sand. Nope. No guts.

When I mix up solutions for spray bottles and pump sprayers I always used distilled. Those bottles sit for a while between details and I don't want tap water getting all nasty in there.

However when doing a rinseless wash I use 2 gallons of tap water in my bucket. That gets used and thrown away. My softened well water is only 270 TDS so I'm very happy with that. The city water when I lived in town was 700. No good. Living there I used distilled in my bucket too.

I am going to be wetsanding two panels on my Lexus in the next month. Another poor paint work, paint was prior to me buying the vehicle with 128,000 miles. I will take before and after photos. I'm tempted to do a 50/50. I think I will do a 50/50 just for you Ron. I took a huge leap of faith that the last paint job had enough clear. Luckily, it did.

Ron, I think you would have no problem wetsanding. As long as you start with 2000 grit and don't go crazy you "should" be OK. Go get a hood from a junk yard and go nuts. The nice thing about the modern sand papers is that you can sand up to 5000 or I think 7000 grit. At 4000 grit today, my Menzerna FG400 finished out the 4000 grit sanding marks in literally no time. Oh, and I used my rotary. Probably could have used the Rupes 15 MarkII. Rotary was just faster.

I would advise against doing a 50/50 when wet sanding is involved.

The hard tape line can be difficult to remove completely.

It it can also happen with the CarPro Denim pads.

I remember hearing this about tape lines and wetsanding. I would have used tape as well. Thanks for saving me a headache down the road. I'm still going to try a 50/50, I'll just fade with no tape into unsanded portion of the panel.
