What did you do detailing wise today?

Did a wash on my mom's car, which I polished and coated with PBL V2 in August. Washed with Citrus Wash. Most of the car was still beading well, but the coating appeared to have failed on the hood, as evidenced by the increased water spot etching since I did the car in August. Only thing I can figure is acid rain? Noticed water spot etching on the hood of my grandpa's car, too. Obviously something in the environment is a real factor, to destroy a coating in 6 months.

I applied the PBL diamond coating booster. Very, very easy product to use. I topped with Synergy. Hopefully that protects the hood until I can recoat it when I get into town again in August. I'm in town for a funeral and only packed basics.

First two pics show this car was filthy!

Beading still looks good on vertical panels:

You can see the water spotting on the hood here:

Durability remains to be seen, but very user friendly product:

Final with Synergy, tires and trim dressed.

Obligatory reflection shot.

Gave the car a wash and used Meguiars D156 And D163 on the tires

decided to hose off the truck, do a quick wipedown and apply some POXY last night

man this is some THICK stuff. applied by hand for two panels and the hood then decided to get out the polisher with a red hydrotech pad, spreads much better via machine

very slick feeling, also noticed a little darkening from the montan when applying

durability is TBD and will most likely not be tested, I just wanted to use something and my truck needed a little spruce up

no sun shots, it was slightly sprinkling this morning but not enough yet to build and beads up..but when I drove the truck everything started to roll off the hood and sheet off nicely at 30mph

I like PBL coating booster. I use it on my personal car that has another coating. I am wondering if something got on the hood to compromise the coating other than possibly acid rain. I will have to check the PBL V2 that is on my mom's car. I think I put it on about the same time you did.

I put the booster on my car with Gloss Coat today, then topped with Synergy. It's shiny, that is for certain!

The curiosity is killing me... How is the rest of the car still beading so well but the hood is shot?

I think red is overdone on black, but blue in the right shade looks awesome. I've thought about doing a color similar to this on my ST.

Agreed. Red can be overdone but its kind of the standard i suppose. Brembo red status striving, haha.

I see your idea of blue working better IMO bc you have the blue on the ford logo to match with. I dont see any blue on his vette so id personally go red (or even gloss back but i feel that defeats the purpose)...now blue vette, blue calipers=awseome like i saw on a fellow members ride.

Now of course its his car and we all have our opinions...mine are stock brembo red (more like pinkish after 7 yrs) & i love how they contrast against my black wheels especially when rolling...i am guilty of staring at others vehicles to see the red caliper in the reflection.

Black and red are the only colors on my car though (short of the yellow turn signals of course)

<--- has reason for blue
