what happened to zaino...

The big difference in Zaino verses other products is that it never dulls out. You can use Zaino 6 after for a deep clear gloss. The Nano and wax products seem to haze the surfaces on occasion. After correction I use Zaino 2 and five with a rotary and finish pad. The shine is endless. Every detail I do includes a bottle of Zaino 6 to keep the detail shining. The client pays for this in the price. I continue to be impressed, because my clients are happy! Isn't that the goal?

I agree that Zaino was very ahead of its time. Not just Z2/25 but products like Clear Seal. Years and years ahead of anyone else that had a mainstream product that was wipe on, walk away. At the time we thought CS was hard to use and now that application method is pretty standard among coatings, albeit improved.

Z10 is still one of the better leather conditioners I've ever tried, especially for uncoated nappa leather.

Z6 and Z8 are still great too.

I really hated having to use ZFX for multiple coats in a day and removal wasn't that easy if you applied it too thick. That was my main reason for moving along to the Menzerna FMJ / Blackfire sealants, along with a slightly wetter look.

I use Z8 frequently, just dropped my last piece of clay last weekend. Use Z2 on wheels and on a beater truck of mine.

What I find kind of amusing is when I was using zaino the pushback was it was too complicated, no one would ever use dawn to *remove oils* from the surface and omg it wont bond to anything, totally too complicated. I took a many year break from this and wow you all have made this crap sooo much more complicated then zaino ever was lol. It is worth it though.

It was only complicated to mix the ZFX if you had to use those dang big plastic bottles that came with it..
I went out and bought some little 1/2 oz plastic bottles and then it was super simple to make the mix, apply the 3 thin coats that were allowable in a 24-hr period, and it was good to go..

The ZFX was like the hardener used in the body shop; you dont use enough, it takes forever to dry and set up, you use too much, it dries too fast and you dont have enough time to work it.. I always experimented with the amount of ZFX I used, and had great results.. Remember, it was so many drops... :)

I used a really good scale and poured the product in the bottle after resetting the scale to 0 with the bottle on it, so I got really accurate baselines to work with..

if there was ever a class that taught one to learn how to apply thin coats all the way across a vehicle, so they could be wiped off easily, it was the Zaino School of Thin Coats... :)

I have had (for many years) and still have great results with all the Zaino products.

I used it on my own car exclusively for over ten years up to two months ago. In that time I bought several milk crates full of the new best hot product to use on my bride's car. Never found anything that caused me to switch from Zaino on my own car in those ten plus years.

I went to a coating recently due to time priorities only. Still glad I switched to a coating as now I spend 30-45 minutes on a wash and dry and I'm out enjoying driving the car. With Zaino and my OCD, I'd spend my Saturday morning adding another three layers. Just about priorities for me now. I was not in anyway unhappy with results from Zaino. ZCS followed by Z8 after a couple layers of Z2 or Z5 is still unbeatable in my book. I still use Z16 on the tires.

Zaino certainly still makes for some interesting discussions around the inter web forums. Pretty polarizing product depending on which side your on.

I got on the Zaino train late in 2009...I thought it was the best suff ever. Honestly, I still love their Z8 grand finale sealant spray but I enjoyed BF WD Sealant Spray more the first time I used it.

This thread makes me want to polish the hood of my truck and do a 50/50 with Zaino AIO, Z2 and Z5..I always thought it was cool when I was mixing in the blue liquid (some accelerator or something) with the z2 etc
NOW I think it was not that cool. haha

but don't know what I'd compare it to/against

maybe bf TPS + WDAFPP + MS Spray

Ahhh the days of mixing ZFX and counting drops and deciding if you should add another layer. I still love Z8 it's an awesome spray sealant.

Interesting enough Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal is actually a spray wax. It's an excellent spray wax and looks awesome but it is not a polymer spray sealant.

Used it for years. I always thought it was polymer... Was a great compliment to Z clear seal..

I never knew that...so all these years I was properly waxing on top of the sealant (although they call their z3/z5 a polish for some reason-whats up with that) :)

I still reach for ZAIO every now and then

The Zaino website says it has polymers in it. Are you saying that it also has natural wax in it too?

Also, Zaino permits you to apply Z2 and z5 over z8, so somehow it is compatible with the zaino polymers.

Anyway, I haven't used Zaino for 10 years, so just curious more than anything.

Found the same info on Z-8.

Website says "optical-clarifying polymers". My Z-8 bottle label says "polymeric technology".

Oddly, my conversation with Sal Zaino (a few years back)...he said it was a spray wax so that's what I went by.
Nonetheless, for a Saturday night out...it is awesome to spray on your vehicle...no matter what's it's made of.
