Not really. The scangrip is newer but I mainly use for a side work light, though it does pretty well at showing defects and has more accurate color for my pics too. Nice light, just way over priced IMO.

My Fenix has been my inspection light for a long time now and shows things even the sun doesn't show...it will drive you crazy! ;)

Once it's all done and plumbing is hooked up I'll probably keep it at 45 in the winter unless I'm working, which is only on the weekends. There is going to be a 1/2 bath in the back room along with a washer/dryer/basin. It's mostly below grade and will be well insulated, so I doubt it will run much to maintain that temp. When I'm working I'll probably have it set a 65, but need to see how it feels as it's a lot different not having cold air near the floor.

This client has radiant floors at his home and his car condo which is what made me fall in love with it and became a must have. He also owns that above Denali HD :)

3. I love seeing those updates on your garage. You should consider opening it up to the public and charge admission so car guys/girls can "ooh" and "ahh" over the details. I'd pay for a tour! :)

If i may ask, which Fenix light do you use? (specific model#?) I am always open to acquire new inspection lights.

Been a while since Ive posted on here....took some time off over the winter to work on the house and relax. Back to work meow! :)

1985 Corvette, Overspray Removal, 2-step Correction, CQuartz Finest Coating

This car belongs to a client who's CPO Audi A5 I detailed last year. This car would be his baby and he is only the second owner of this car and has actually owned it since April 1986. As you can see by the odometer he definitely enjoys driving and tracking the car (Canadian spec car). Considering its age and mileage there were obviously some blemishes, and a few thin edges, but overall this is a very, very nice C4 and sounds pretty mean too! Unfortunately at some point in the last year the car was heavily covered in some kind of overspray. On top of that the years of use have left the finish a little swirled. She was in for overspray removal, 2-step paint correction, CQuartz Finest Coating, wheels off coating, engine bay touch up, and an interior touch-up.

Process:

Wash – ONR
Wheels - Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus & various brushes.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing 3:1
Paint Prep - Nanos Skin Towel and Glide as lube
Paint Correction - Groit's Fast Correct Cream on the Rupes MKII21 with Griot's MF BOSS pads followed by HD Polish+ on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Tight areas done with Rupes LHR75e and Flex PE14 with 1”-2" pads
Trim – Opti-Lens
Exhaust - Optimum Metal Polish
Coating Prep – Eraser & IPA wipe-down
Coating- 2 coats CQuartz Finest

Tesla Model S, Paint Correction, CQuartz Finest Coating, wheels off coating.

New client from out of state recently took delivery of their new Tesla Model S here at the Eden Prairie, MN store. We had tried to time the delivery so I could detail it the weekend they received the car but it came in 2 weeks earlier than planned and they had to come back down again a couple weeks later. However, Tesla was nice enough to have a loaner for them while I worked on their car all weekend…how cool is that! As with most new cars this one had a lot of the typical marring, scratches, and even a few areas where it had been polished on.


Process:

Wash – ONR
Wheels – Griots heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner & various brushes.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing 3:1
Paint Prep - Nanos Skin Towel and Glide as lube
Paint Correction - Groit's Fast Correct Cream on the Rupes MKII21 with Griot's MF BOSS pads followed by HD Polish+ on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Tight areas done with Rupes LHR75e and TA50.
Glass – Megs D120
Trim – Opti-Lens
Coating Prep – Eraser & IPA wipe-down
Coating- 2 coats CQuartz Finest

It's coming along, just a lot slower then I'd like. Basically working on it as I have time and money from doing cars. :/

Interior framing is done and door installed going into house


Service room/half bath framed




Overhead door and opener installed




I got the majority of the wiring installed (early pic) except for the overhead LED lighting and outdoor outlets....that will be a fun project.


Upgraded to a new 200amp panel in the house


And added a 100amp sub panel into the shop. Some of the breakers need to be swapped out and a couple added. When its done I'll have (2) 50 amp outlets for EV charging, (2) 40 amp outlets for future use (welder, plasma cutter ect..) (2) 30 amp outlets, and a bunch of 20 amp with multiple dedicated circuits.

The seats have been recovered at some point and the trim was hydro dipped for the wood grain look. I actually think it looks pretty good but everyone has thier own taste. :)

Wash – Meguiar’s Hyper Wash and natural lambs wool mitt
Wheels – Griot’s Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner & various brushes.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing 3:1
Paint Prep – Griot’s Fast Surface Prep Mitt and Glide as lube
Paint Correction - Groit`s Fast Correct Cream on the Rupes MKII21 with Griot`s MF BOSS pads followed by HD Polish+ on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Tight areas done with Rupes LHR75e and Flex PE14 with 1”-2" pads
Exhaust - Optimum Metal Polish
Glass – Megs D120 and Griot’s PFM glass towels
Coating Prep – Eraser & IPA wipe-down
