Description
SSR-2 is a professional grade mild abrasive. SSR-2 contains no wax or silicone. It is body shop safe, great for detailers and perfectionists, for new vehicles or old. It can be safely used on clear coats and all paints. Use by hand or machine, in sun or shade. SSR-2 removes light swirls, fine scratches, oxidation and over spray from all finishes. Its unique cleaners and mild abrasives breakdown quickly to remove swirls, scratches and contaminates from the surface of the finish.
Directions
Apply a small amount of SSR-2 to the paint’s surface or evenly around a foam pad. Spread SSR-2 over a small section before starting machine to reduce fling. Polish using light pressure and continue until SSR-2 starts to dust slightly. Buff with a microfiber towel by hand to finish. For deeper swirls try SSR-2.5 medium abrasivr formula. For final finishing, use Poorboy’s SSR-1, professional polish or polish with carnauba/sealant.
Price on Autopia Car Care Products - Car Detailing Supplies, Car Wax, Car Polishers, Auto Detailing is $16.99 for a 16oz bottle. I started out with my test spots to figure out what the best combo would be on this very hard, very damaged Chevy paint.
I tested on a Rupes 15 using a Rupes Green Pad, B&S Microfiber Cutting Pad and a Lake Country Thin Foamed Wool Pad. As you can see below the test spots with the Green Pad and B&S Pad were about tied and the Thin Foamed Wool Pad left a little too much mirco marring. I did try the Rupes Blue Pad as well but it flung polish all over the place so I stopped trying that one out immediately.

I meant for this job to be a one-stepper on an aggressive pad but it did not finish down as well as I was hoping for.......
So being the nice guy that I am and wanting to further test the polish out, I started doing some test spots for the second step. I tested on the Rupes 15 using B&S Microfiber Finishing Pads and Rupes Yellow Pads. After these test spots the paint looked a little better but was still pretty hazy so neither of these were going to work. I was hoping I could use a little extra cut with the Rupes but decided after this to step down to a Lake Country White CCS Pads on the PC. For the smaller areas I used B&S Yellow Pads and B&S Blue Pads. As you can see it looks way better than before (see first picture) but still pretty bad. This was just meant to be a one-step though to help out a little with the swirls plus this is a very unforgiving light source. In the sun looked better than what you see here.
I was not too pleased with the results and neither was this guy. But like I said, much better than before and time was an issue.

I kind of wish I would have tried a different combo with a different compound and tried to finish off with SSR2 but I also wanted to see what just this could do on its own. I was definitely not a fan of SSR2 on this paint but I will give it a shot on either a softer paint or just after a more aggressive polish before I give any final thoughts. I did forget to get any sun shots but here are some after shots with the truck wearing some Natty’s Blue Paste wax. I do see this truck every week so I plan on getting more pictures next weekend.
