*Favorite Wheel Color*

With the the "Favorite Paint Color" thread, and me wanting to try something different on my personal car. I figured I would try to get some input from you guys on your favorite wheel color on cars. I like the black wheels, but I think there are PLENTY of cars with black wheels and I want to try something different.

Some colors I like....

Really like this one especially with satin bronze brake calipers.
Anthracite:

Great all around color on any color vehicle and really stands out on black. Very classic sports car and would look great with red calipers.
Satin Silver:

Something a little different. Usually goes well with white or blue. Rarely seen on black, but I think it can look good at times.
Satin Bronze:

Something VERY different and you won't see every day. I think it is a really cool looking color, but don't know if I have the balls to sport it on my car. Probably would look really cool on brake calipers.
Anodized Red:

Thoughts on other colors?

I like the top two (with the exception of number 2's lugnuts). I still like chrome on a black car

The top two with the second one getting the top nod. I've had black wheels and I had my fill with them. Silver looks much better and they look larger than they are.

Black can pull of bronze or gold. I would leave the colored wheels for the ricers.

Awesome, that's the way I was leaning. I agree on those lugs. Really out of place and taking away from that wheel.

Some how I knew someone was going to mention chrome lol. Originally my car had chrome wheels and every vehicle I have owned prior to this one did as well.

The top two with the second one getting the top nod. I've had black wheels and I had my fill with them. Silver looks much better and they look larger than they are.

I figured those two would be unanimous. I really like that silver also. Such a clean looking color. I might be leaning more towards the anthracite and satin bronze calipers or even satin red calipers.

A little bit lighter anthracite/gunmetal and bronze calipers.

Only bronze/black car I truly like.

I agree, the other stuff is really "out there", but I have a powder coat gun so I can change if I want. Just need to finish my oven.

I like anthracite for wheels. That's what I made mine temporarily until I get one of them refinished.

I really like the Orange and anthracite wheels! Did you plasti-dip them?

Polish silver to gunmetal in color. Advantage of slightly darker silvers like gunmetal is that they "hide" brake dust a little more.

Really depends on the color of paint for me. For instance a British Racing green looks fantastic with Gold wheels. However any Tan or anything else that's too close to a gold requires a color that contrasts in my opinion. I've never been overly fond of black wheels.

Conservative ol' me likes the first two (minus the reg lugs on #2).

For some reason I've recently taken a downright *dislike* to black wheels. 99% of the time I think they kill the looks of whatever they're on. Especially black car/dark tint/black wheels... "no thanks!" though I might've really gone for that look when I was younger.

Guess I just don't like "statement" wheels, preferring something that I feel compliments the overall look of the car.

But I also guess that I'm *far* more stodgy when it comes to this stuff than most people here

Yeah, I like that too.

I feel the same way about calipers sometimes. If you have huge calipers I think the statement colors do well, but cars with smaller calipers it tends to look funny.

#1 and red calipers is my choice- bright red

you can even get your calipers wrapped a custom color if u want..a guy in my car club had his brembo calipers wrapped to go with his SRTs theme and it looks awesome

but i think black chrome is best on a black car- just my opinion tho

I think I just realized that I'm a brake snob. I like to see the performance names like Willwood, Brembo, SSBC or the likes where the caliper has some color and advertising the brand. That said, I think it's kind of a poser type look when the single piston OE's are painted to mimic this look (no offense to those who have spent time doing this). Especially when the brake pads are painted the same color as the caliper. Please don't paint the pads backing plate. For that matter don't paint the pad either.

Didn't realize I felt strongly about this untill I read this thread. I really like to see a clean semi/gloss black or machined/anodized silver caliper behind big wheels with large rotors, red's fine, neon green not so much. Spoke with a friend about this the other day and we concluded that big wheels need big rotors (slotted/dimpled/cross drilled or combination of these) to complete the look. In any case if you've got big wheels the brake hardware must be clean.

While I'm close to this subject in my outspoken opinion it's easy to get carried away with really large wheels depending on the vehicle. Most vehicles can pull off an 18", 19" or 20" wheel but when you start getting into 22's or larger you better have an Escalade, Navigator or something along these lines. Extra thought really needs go into the wheel choice when going this big.

Every color I am looking at is custom lol. I will be buying the powder from prismatic powders. They have some crazy number of powders available.

And black chrome is an option.

My front calipers are Stoptech's. They once had SALEEN on them but i repainted them because the paint was failing. When I redo them they will say SALEEN again. I already have the decals made, just waiting for winter to remove them.

All four of my rotors I upgraded to two piece 14" slotted and drilled Baer Eradispeed rotors. There was a 15" option for this car, same as the Saleen S7, but mine didn't have them. There is a set for sale at the moment, but they are $2200 used lol.

I have gone back and fourth on the color for mine. They are black now, of course, but I have entertained the idea of silver, red, black, bronze, and yellow. I think silver just look very "factory", and not so much sporty.

When FIRESTONE screwed up my factory wheels, they replaced them with a nissan pro4x wheel. Light graphite.. I like the look of these better than the factory machine finish. All one color. Looks great against the night armor body color. Picture was the day they were installed and coated with DP WHEEL COAT.
