Hi all,
Long time lurker, but thought I'd finally introduce myself properly. First, THANK you all, for your amazing knowledge. I am just a hobby detailer, but love any time I can get stuck into a full detailing job.
I use a Flex XC 3401 mainly, but also employ a Porter Cable 7424 (I'll keep a large pad on the Flex, and work smaller areas with the PC, with a 4" pad). Most recently, I have ordered a Flex PE8 Kompakt rotary, to use small, two to three inch pads - I am looking forward to seeing how it works out.
I use mainly Menzerna products for polishing/compounding - love their products, but am always looking for something that will give me an advantage when tackling a problem.
My most recent acquisition (just arrived today! ^_^ ) is a Defelsko DFT combo PTG. I don't do detailing as a profession, but I am doing some pretty expensive cars, so I don't want to be screwing up the paint on a $300,000 exotic!! I have noticed that the paint on my car is VERY thick, all over. Maybe a good thing.....
I have only just started to compile a photographic record of detailing jobs that I undertake - mostly, I do cars for friends - they find it hilarious that I am detailing their cars, as I am a physician by trade, haha. (The jokes just never end..... "now, Allan, don't get any weird ideas with my car, when you put on those rubber gloves...." :hmmm: )
Here are a few pics, of recent jobs.
My car:
Sorry for the poor lighting - these were taken early in the morning, when I should have done them in the evening
This is a buddy's car, done recently - he's selling it to make room for a new Ferrari convertible, to go alongside his Diablo B) Silver is such a difficult colour to photograph
This is "Barney". This was an easy detail - the owner had already done some claying, and the paint was pretty good - just needed a light polish.
I am currently working on my brother-in-law's AMG SLK55 - he and my sister are on holidays - she asked me to do his car as a surprise for him when he gets home.
Next car up is an ACR Viper - number 10 of 37. It's black, so I'll have to be on my toes..... and then the Diablo.
I do this, mainly to be around the cool cars, and to do something for my friends, who have done so much for me, in various ways.
Thanks for taking the time to get through my (very loooong, lol) first post, and thank you again, for all of your invaluable help!
Cheers!
