How To: Sonax Polymer Net Shield for Wheels & Paint.

I had received a PM from a forum member asking me how I apply Sonax Polymer Net Shield (SPNS) to the wheels. I figured perfect time for me to show how I apply SPNS to wheel and paint.


For those who haven't seen or read about SPNS here is the product description.

First lets start with how I apply for the vehicles paint. Always start with a washed and dried vehicle. If the paint is need of a decontamination with a clay bar or clay alternative then proceed to that first. Once you have the paint in the condition you want and are ready for your LSP time to bring out the SPNS.


Items required:
2 Soft Plush MF towels
1 Can of Sonax Polymer Net Shield





First spray a small amount of product directly on to the towel





Next spray a small amount of product to the panel. (I find that working in smaller sections makes the application of SPNS much easier. If you are working in warmer climates you maybe want to break down panels into 2-4 small sections)





Spread the product evenly over the working area





Once you have spread out the product you will see some hazing and or flashing





Take your clean MF towel and go over the area to remove any leftover product and reveal and beautiful shine.








How to apply Sonax Polymer Net Shield on wheels


The same procedure working for wheels as well



First spray a small amount of product directly on to the towel.
Next spray a small amount of product to the wheel.





Work the product over the entire surface of the wheel.



With a clean towel buff off the excess product



Once you have removed all the excess you are finished

Thanks Pat! I see anywhere from 4-6 months. If it's well maintained you can get 6 months easily. If it's not kept after or is seeing a tunnel wash then 4 months or so. As with anything it all comes down to how well it's cared for.

Evan .... more specifically, what kind of durability do you see on wheel applications?

I'm currently using Ultima Paint Guard Plus for it's WOWA capability but I was thinking of trying a coating. I have heavily dusting BMW wheels and I was looking for better protection. I use Sonax PNS as my winter protection on the paint, but I never applied it to the wheels. I figured I have PNS on hand but I'd have to buy a coating if I went that route.

The summer wheels are prepped and ready to go on the car. I'm just wondering if the PNS is more durable than the UPGP, or if there's an even better option.

Good write up. Seems EXPZ. I currently have DP WHEEL COATING on my wheels. Seeing mammoth duriabilty with it. But the SPNS seems like a great product for wheels too.

Realistically for the wheels you can expect anywhere from 2-4 months I would say. The best option would be to coat the wheels but this is a great option as well.

Great write up. I used PNS on wheels today using the same method, when I apply it to paint I use a orange block foam applicator and buff with a MF towel.

Sonax offers a foam applicator but I feel after perfecting a paint that it maybe a little stiff for my liking so I opt for a towel because of the soft delicate fibers and that it holds onto the PNS making less waste.

Good post......PNS is great on rims and barrels
