Sweet deal on electric pressure washer! (AR 383)

It's a good question about the pump storage treatment. From my experience as long as you're storing the unit indoors and above freezing everything should be fine. Disconnecting the sprayer hose is a good idea too. :)

MooreImpressive- I believe my post-count got slightly inflated during the Consolidation. But yeah... last I checked I was #2 at the Old Forum.

StumpyDetailing- It'll be interesting to hear how you like the wall-mount if you go that route. I myself found that , to my surprise, I *DO NOT* like wall-mounted stuff as a general rule. Only thing I did that way at my current shop was some air-power stuff (reels, tire-fill station).

Bought it a few days ago, should get it tomorrow and I'm very excited to see good things being mentioned about it here. Can't wait to try this baby out and get back into detailing.

I found the full OM on the AR website. It recommends the Pump Saver for winter storage even if stored inside (to prevent rust, corrosion, etc.). Looks like some local hardware stores carry it like Ace and Tru Value. Also recommends for long storage in hard water areas. We have hard water here, so might be good preventative maintenance to run it through before I store each winter. 16 oz. bottle is $10...from the OM sounds like it might only use a few ounces each time just to get it pulled into the pump, so it would probably last 3-4 years on one bottle.

Good to know! Thankfully I don't have hard water :)

I see something here called "pump storage lubricant". Is this something you guys use over the winter months when you store it indoors? I'm sure there will be details in the owners manual but thought I would get your input before it shows up tomorrow. AR383 Pressure Washer | AR Blue Clean 383 Power Washers

EDIT: Doh...I see the owner's manual is also on this page, so I'll look through that also. 2nd EDIT: no mention of the "pump storage lubricant" in the OM. Thanks in advance for sharing any experiences you have with this (whether you even use it or not).

it has detergents and lube in it to keep from rust and calcium build up. So i was told

HELP! Question for everyone that owns this model - when you press the trigger on the washer, does the pump ALWAYS start operating right away or does it randomly "choke" or "struggle" to get going and then after a few tries it runs smoothly??? First time i used it, i thought it was just normal since the motor turns on only when you press the trigger, but i was using it again Today and it was actually taking me a few tries before i could get it going...this concerns me because I've barely used this thing and if this is normal, then it's definitely very annoying, having to depress the trigger every few seconds until the pump fully kicks in.

Mine makes a noise like it's trying to start but it just can't , kind of like a fast "hiccup".

The only time Ive had it do something to that extent is when I first hook it up to a water source after its sat for a while. It will sometimes sputter a little bit, but it quickly recovers and returns to normal. Ive been told that its air pockets in the line causing it. It was concerning at first, but over the years Ive gotten used to it. That doesnt really sound like the issue you're having though.

I was thinking air pockets or kinks on any of the hoses, didnt see any noticeable kinks on my input hose, but it kinks easily and it's a cheap hose, so I was thinking next time ill try a different input hose and see if it continues doing that.

has never happened to me. There is a delay every time I pull the trigger, but I just hold it down and it kicks in. Hopefully no debris in your system somewhere.

Yeah it's normal. My AR383 randomly does what you describe. Two thing might help: make sure to run all of the air out of your hoses before plugging the unit in. If the choking persist I've found by removing the attachment (wand/foam cannon) squeezing the trigger, letting water run through, and then reattaching it the choking/ sputtering goes away.

man, glad to hear this is a normal thing , i'd hate to have to call them and return my unit or some crap like that. Thank you so much for the tip Angus, i will definitely try that as well as using a tougher input hose that won't kink as easy.

Will let you all know if it doesn't "fix" the issue. Thanks again!

Edit: To be clear, the water coming out of the nozzle is not the issue, it's the pump/motor that chokes and skips making the unit jerk as there is water coming out but without pressure.... is this the same thing that you say happens to you Angus?

Yeah man, it's the same issue. Hope my tips help.

Hey everyone, if you are in a pinch for the o-ring that is on the hose fitting that snaps into the gun (the tiny one), the #5 o-ring at Ace Hardware fits the bill. Can't believe my factory one blew out after only a few uses. The measurements for the #5 o-ring are 3/8 x 1/4 x 1/16. I don't know if this is exactly the right size, but it worked.

Is this Amazon AR383 washer the way to go?
I just had my neighbor help me change the head gasket on my 98 power washer. Now it's over revving. He took it to his house to see if he can fix it. I say it's time for a small electric one. Just need to be sure I can mate the foam canon to it.

I personally like it, except I honestly think the hose reel design is worthless, I tried to wind my hose up using that but I found it too stiff to be able to roll into that tight area. Aside from that that I'm happy with it, not bad at all for the price.

Agree 100%. And if you do use the reel, the hose pinches right behind the connector. I was worried that would eventually crack the hose over time. Now I just lasso the hose into @ 1 foot loops and throw it over the main handle.

I purchased this machine a few weeks ago based upon reviews found on Amazon. It does a nice job for car washing and deck cleaning. I also have a gas pw for larger jobs, but I have used the electric one far more than I thought I would. For hose reels for both machines I use cheap plastic water hose reels that the big box stores carry. I purchased additional hose extensions for both machines, so using the hose reels makes it easy to transport and store.

I use one of these babies for my cord and another for the hose, they're very convenient, i bought quite a few to have for all my cable management for my tools/equipment.Got them at Home Depot, they carry a small size ideal for the washer's power cord and a larger size ideal for the Hose especially if you buy the extension.
