Zymol Cleaner Wax

I bought this stuff a while ago, and finally decided to try it out on our 95 Astro Van.

I was a little disappointed with this product.

Why? Well, here are some sore points:

-difficult to spread/apply(used a lot of product for the surface area)

-difficult to remove(hazes really hard)

-shine only 'okay'(doesn't really have a wet, carnauba shine)

-left the surface less than slick(rough to the touch)

-stains trim('nuff said)

So, I feel that it is definitely NOT worth the $12.99 price tag. As for durability, I'll let you know. It is water-based, so I'm not expecting great results here either. I'd rather spend my money on Mother's Carnauba Cleaner Wax.

:wavey

I got some at costco- two bottles for 16 dollars I think.

It is a pain to put on without using about a third of the bottle on one car.. And the directions are really not kidding about the car being cool when you apply it. On my black car, I found it had a tendency to be a bit streaky, but I could get them out with detailer spray and more buffing.. It was way less streaky when the car was really cool.

I'm going to use this on my daily driver car which is white- and use straight paste carnauba on the black one.. I think all that good smelling goo is a bit much to try to buff away.

Have you seen this? The 'cheap' zymol cream in this test is similar to this stuff I think..

Wow... the results of that test are pretty surprising. I will have to pull out that old bottle of Zymol C/W and give it a try!

BUT, Zaino will never be replaced... by anything. :nono

I have never had a chance to really test this, but I get the feeling "cleaner" waxes are alittle tougher to work with than normal waxes.

My reasoning being, the cleaners are more or less abbrasive. Seams that would cause it to catch the surface of the paint more than a non abrasive wax. Thinking about it, sand paper sliding across paint is going to move much slower with more resistance, than normal paper.

This is just me thinking logically, maybe someday I will be able to test it ;)

Maybe mothers cleaner wax and pure carnauba wax would be two good candidates? Any other company make a cleaner and non-cleaner blend of wax?

Zymol c/w...

If it was'nt real Zymol.. than why would you be able to order it directly from the company. I have heard this rumor several times, but find it hard to belive. Does anyone have proof that its not actually a Zymol product?

Someone e-mailed zymol about it awhile ago, and Zymol said that they made a deal to have turtle wax distribute it so that it would be available at the same chains/stores that turtle wax is. The representative also assured that it was made and developed by zymol, and not turtle wax.

Take a look at the address on the back of the Zymol cleaner wax. And then take a look at the address on any Turtle Wax product. You will note the same city (Chicago) and zip code. Strange coincidence!

Alright, I found the thread with the e-mail I was talking about

Ms. LaPointe,

Thank you for your email and concern about our affiliation with Turtle Wax.

In 1994 Turtle Wax attempted to buy Zymol. We refused.

In 1995 we approached Turtle Wax to allow us to use their distribution and representative network to launch our SUV and Truck product line in the automotive chain stores.

Our choice to use Turtle's sales network was based upon their 70% market share and 100% distribution.

Simply, they own the automotive chain store market.

Their field of 200+ representatives, the best in the industry, has also been a great benefit to our SUV/Truck product sales.

Our quality has not changed and is superior to any and all manufacturers in our industry. In fact, our SUV/Truck line was voted No.1 by Consumer's Reports (May 2000) compared to all brands available. (including Turtle, which did not make them very happy)

Ms. LaPonte, I make it a company policy to stay out of chat rooms and post locations because I believe they are private forums for the benefit of their members and I never want my company associated with the unethical modality of 'spamming'.

I'm comfortable with your posting my reply to your forum if you wish.

I hope this answers your members questions.

Warmest Regards,

C. E. Bennett (Chuck)

CEO

p.s. a little inside info; we are trying to buy Turtle.

of all the cleaner carnauba-waxes out there, I have to say that Meguiar's is the best by far, still. :up

I would have to agree here. For $5 a bottle, easy on, easy off, decent shine, you can't really beat Meguiar's C/W for local products. And, what's more....I'd take the $5 bottle of Meguiar's any day over the $1200 jar of Zymol, much less the Zurtle wax.....:p

:)

Are you serious? Wow, that's a bold statement. :bow

I'd still like to try the 3M stuff (odd mixture) and Blitz, Pinnacle, etc before planting my roots down with just one wax.

Please, real Zymol: Atlantique, Destiny,Vintage is top quality wax.It just for show cars (exellent shine no durability)
