ZOMG...Tar remover...wow

Ok,

So this weekend, I had a very brief period of time to do something with my car, so I decided to detail my wheels and new tires on my 09' Matrix. Now I detailed and sealed these about a year ago and they haven't been touched since so they were pretty dirty and the sealant was gone. So, yes, there was plenty of tar on the inside of the wheels that you know is just a BUGGER to get off. I started by using P21S Wheel Gel and that cleaned the wheels spotless very easily with some lingering time and agitation. However, it didn't touch the tar spots.

So, I went to the CG bug/tar remover to step it up. Sprayed it on, agitated, let sit...meh. It took off some but I got more off with my fingernail. So after scraping everything off but the small black dots that you could barely feel, my hands were going to fall of. So I said screw it, it is the interior of the wheel and its not a show car. So, on goes the Colinite 845.

And here is the ZOMG...

I put on the product, not as thin as I should have so it took way longer to dry so I will wipe off the excess and apply another coat properly when it dries. So, I wipe and...OFF COMES THE TAR. A few mild rubs and it was ALL gone.

Now I am no expert but I think this is now my goto product for tar. I figure if I use this to remove the tar, I can ISA it off and seal the whole car with the LSP of my choice when everything is ready.

Anyone have the same experience or see why this would not be a good way to remove tar or see any issues doing this?

If not, try it out, I will be doing another test, with pics here in a few days when I get some more time, there is a large tar spot near my fuel door that is very evident so it should give good visual results.

Thanks for reading.

Might have to give this a shot. Are you using the old 845, the pre VOC stuff?

I purchased it from Detailed Image less than a year ago. So I don't know if it is pre-VOC or not. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this?

Uh oh, another product to spend $ on! I had a little bit of the same experience, only it was with Griot's Undercar. on wheel wells- removed some tar upon wipedown.

845, or atleast the version i have (older) is like a solvent soup! Im not suprised it worked and seems like you got it perfected and protected in one!
