ZAIO vs. 1991 Acura NSX

1991 Acura NSX, making its way to 100K on the clock.

I see this car once or twice a year. This evening the owner was in the neighborhood, so I gave it a ‘quick clean up’.

The car had some tar on the wheels, and rocker panels, and a Z7 wash took it right off.

Part of the reason that I’m a big Zaino fan is that after a vehicle is protected with Zaino maintenance is much easier, and this was another example of that.

I spend a little over 2 hours on this one.

Process Used:

Wash:

Z7 & Euro-Sheepskin

A2Z on the wheels, tires, wells, exhaust

Protect:

ZAIO via PC/Polishing Pad @ 5 on the paint, glass, trim, lighting, wheels, exhaust

CS x 1.

Z16 on the tires and wells.

The interior was protected with Z16, Z10, Stoners on the glass, and Z8-Z6 mix on the jams.

Here are a few after shots from this evening:

Sweet car!! Nice cleanup. I remember in the past that you had very involved details with this one. (didn't you wet-sand it once?) The ZAIO-CS looks great!

Greg

Greg, This beast did see some wet sanding a few years ago, among many other things. It was a total mess when the current owner picked it up, and the initial detail was a work out.

gmblack3a, CS in very cold, damp weather (as I used during much of the beta testing period) worked great, but in warmer temps it's just amazing. See the WW towel on the back glass on the 4th picture? I had to wipe down an area because I missed a spot of ZAIO, but thought it was some CS initially. As long as you have a clean surface, CS works like a charm and is a true wipe on and walk away product. The paint, trim, glass (except the spot I missed), wheels, and exhaust dried perfect in this evenings weather (70 degrees).

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Great looking car, hard to think it is 16 years old!!!

At 16+ years old, it's more solid feeling than many new cars. Acura really did a nice job on this one -all around. A member here sent me a write up about how Acura painted these fine machines about a year or so ago (pt91 ?), and it was an amazing read.

Simply amazing... For a 16 year old car, that NSX looks better than some of the cars in a dealer's showroom....

Thank You.

I try to take good care of this one, and enjoy seeing it once or twice a year.

The owner came over to the house after work this evening and give me a nice tip.

I had a chance to take a few sun shots of the NSX.

He was happy, and that's all that counts at the end of the day.

Sweet cleanup. But man those cars are looking dated.

Bobbi

Remember same year as:

Original cost? Cost to maintain? I think a car that ran some 14 years with minor changes has done pretty well in the looks/timeless department.

I agree.....

The NSX is a timeless classic IMO.....

I still can't believe what good used ones can still bring in the open market......That says it all.......
