Zaino ZFX questions...

From their order form, I noticed that the Zaino Flash (ZFX) is only 2ml. Quite small considering the price.

How do you use this? Do you simply pour it into your bottle of Z2?

I'm about to order the Zaino suite of things and wanted to clarify this first.

BTW I'm ordering Z1, Z2, Z6 and ZFX. From what I've read, the Z5 for swirl marks wasn't that great so I'm considering the 3M or Meguire products. Any suggestions? Should I order just one of each or is there one product that I will use more and should order more of? Might as well save the trouble of ordering again if I run out of something, save shipping charges too.

My car is a Zenith Blue (purplish-blue) Boxster with noticeable swirl marks from the previous owner's negligence.

Great board, can't wait to restore some brilliance to my car.

You don't need the z1...zfx is the the only thing you need along w/z2 or z5.The zfx is applied 2-4 drops per 1oz. of polish. You will get some bottles to mix the zfx and polish. The zfx enables you to put multiple coats on without waiting a long time inbetween.Don't forget the z7, a great car wash! I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable members will respond with a good recommendation for a scratch remover if you don't want the z5.

yea... with the zfx you just add the polish to the small bottles that come with the kit (i do about 1/2 full (one ounce)) then add 3-4 drops of the zfx... that's all it takes. z5 is a great product, but it's not a magical one... the key to zaino (and all sealents) is paint preperation. before you start zainoing your car i would recomend taking the time and costs to get it preped right... ie remove oxidation (if any) and attack those swirls with a PC and some SMR or FI-II (worked for me). Also make sure you get out any waterspots or anything wrong with the paint. I learned this the hard way.. ended up stripping my car of it's sealent 3 times... because each time i didn't do a good enough job with the prep.

Welcome to the board , infinii,

don't let the small size of the ZFX-botle scare you, because it should last about 4 bottles of Z(5 or/and 2).
On an average car you can get 3 coats of Z out of one (1) oz.
This means 8 x 3 = 24 coats out of 1 bottle x 4 bottles = 96 coats with 2 ml of ZFX.
Please , read : www.zainobros.com allso for more info.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

screwforsurf, why wouldn't I need the Z1? According to their website, I should apply Z1 and allow it to haze before putting Z2/5 on top of it.

Do you guys think I need the clay bar?

When uses ZFX Z1 is not needed to prep the virgin finish for proper adhesion of the sealant (Z2 or Z5). Z1 is used initially when applying Z polishes ( alone - no ZFX ) and only required to be re-applied after every 7-10 of Z2/5. ZFX eliminate the need for Z1. Use that money for some Z7. It is great for washing a Zaino'd car and actually adds some sealant to the existing coats.

Hope this helps. :)

You will run out of Z-6 the fastest. Next in line would be the Z-7. Get two or three bottles of Z-6. I don't pay shipping because I live 15 minutes away from a distributor, but I usually pick up 3-4 bottles of Z-6 whenever I pay them a visit.

You will really like Z-6. I've got almost two gallons of non-zaino quick detailers, but I have since stopped using them on my zaino'd car. The way Z-6 shines up and slickens a car with zaino far exceeds anything else I have tried.

thanks again guys.

I just called the distributor, they had my stuff boxed and on the way out. I had them take out the Z1 and added another bottle of Z6 and the clay bar. Already ordered the Z7. :)
