Zaino Z-5 After 3M SMR & PII Rubbing Compound??

My wife's Jeep had some jerk drag something down the side from the front fender all the way to the first door handle.

It left a white streak all the way.

The only way I could remove it was with the PC and 3M PII Rubbing Compound on an orange pad and then SMR to remove the haze.

Time was short (had to get to Dent Doctors to remove a crease that was visable after removal of the white streak) so I skipped the Dawn wash stage and went right to 3 coats of Z5 W/ ZFX.

It seemed to work very well. It seems to have bonded just fine and looks great.

Has anybody else skipped the Dawn Wash after using "body shop safe" products like SMR and PIIRC successfully????

BTW : Dent doctors did an awesome job removing the crease. Absolutly cannot see were the crease was.

I have always washed after SMR. The last time I did my beast though I skipped the wash. I then did a Z1 Z2 layer and eventually 2 more layers over the winter. It seemed to hold up, but after a few washings spider webbing began to appear.

My theory is that the oils and fillers in smr began to evaporate, revealing the micro marring. I decided that I should have washed them off first and inspected the finish. I think they were covering uo those webs.

A month ago I did a total overhaul. This time instead of SMR I went from PI III RC to PI III MG. I was testing out the "non filling" qualities of MG. I really like the stuff. It is really easy to apply and leaves the surface squeaky clean for Zaino. No need to wash.

Hope this helps
