Zaino & S100 Dilemna

Well I just ordered some S100 today. I can't wait until it gets here! I've got a question though. I've been using Zaino for the past couple of months (I've probably put 10+ coats of it on my 98 Integra). The shine is great.

Would you guys suggest coating the S100 on top of the Zaino on my finish? Or should I start with a fresh base by washing the car with Dawn, polishing with #9, and then S100?

Thanks for you advice :D

What color is your car??

That would affect my answer.;) For dark colors, such as black or navy blue, I would say yes. But for light colors, like silver or beige, I would say just keep layering the Zaino.

I've tried s100 over Zaino on my car, and it didn't look as good as the s100 or Zaino alone.:xyxthumbs

Just $.02 from personal experience.

For the time of year that it is I'd say no. Carnuba isn't going to do much for your car durring the winter anyway. Unless you are in an area where it is sunny all year round. :) Carnuba is mainly for looks. Its hard to spend too much time on looks when its snowing outside. I'd save the S100 for spring and focus on protection durring the winter. That's just me. I live in the 7th ring of Hell though. Putting any carnuba on my car past the first of October is pretty much a waste of wax out here.

Do you feel there is some specific problem with carnauba in cold weather?

I was considering using S100 on one of my cars this winter. It would have AIO for a base and would probably get another application of S100 every 3 to 5 weeks. We have some pretty nasty weather, but I can heat my garage, wash with Q&E, and apply whatever wax or sealant I decide on. In fact, I was planning to do just that, tomorrow. Temperature is supposed to get in the teen's tonight, but 20 minutes with my kerosene heater and I can work in just jeans and a flannel shirt with an insulated vest over it.

First off, no carnauba really holds up well in in extremes of heat, cold, rain or snow. It just wears out. Personally, I love Carnaubas from April to October. But it's easy to fix in those temperatures. I don't remember Iowa as being balmy in the winter so with salt, ice, snow, sleet and rain like our winters can be, avoid the carnaubas except as a top coat. Put on a polymer for protection in the winter.

It's Milano red...is that classified as a dark or a light color?

I live in Kansas City so it will probably be exposed to some snow/salt/ice.

Since I seem to be butting in on GS-R Jay's post, I will just ask one more question, then get out of here.

Iowa winters can be very nasty. Cold, snow, ice, salt, all the good stuff. The AIO base would be my protectant since it is an acrylic synthetic. The S100 would only need to shine like heck with lots of depth. Something it does quite well. Would the AIO be enough protection? It too ,would be refreshed sometime during the winter. Probably about 60 days between apps. In other words, AIO + S100, 30 days later, S100, another 30 days, AIO and S100 again. 30 days more, S100, another 30 days, SPRING!
