Zaino reapplication

I suppose this could pertain to just about any wax/sealant and QD but since I have been using Zaino, I'll direct my question toward Zaino users. For those who use Zaino Z-2/Z-5 and top it off with weekly Z-6/Z-8, how do you know when you have to reapply Z-2/Z-5 if Z-6/Z-8 are constantly boosting gloss, slickness and beading? This is assuming the "boosting" lasts longer than a week. Does it?

You must be a displaced Pittsburger as I am! I can't speak to Z8, but Z6 is nothing more than a quick detailer so only boosts gloss etc for a week at the most. Zaino always claims Z2 will last 6 months, but just to be sure I always added a layer every 3 months (since it was so easy) when I was using Zaino products exclusively. If your going longer than 3 months you should be able to tell when the Z2 is starting to fail as the water beads after a rain will not be as small and tight.

If you're washing every week with Z-7 and using Z-8, I'm not sure if you'll ever have to reapply. As pwaug said, when you start to lose the tight Zaino beads you had when you first applied, then you'll know it's time for more.

Better safe than sorry, go ahead and reapply whenever in doubt. It is always nice to layer. I usually go every 12 weeks no matter what. It is like a therapy applying Zaino for me anyway.

I wouldn't bother with the squeak test with Zaino. As long as it is beading you have protection. When the beading loosens up apply whatever Z product you want.

But that's just it, if you're applying Z-8 after weekly washes, when would the beading ever loosen up? The way Z-8 is touted, seems as though that would never happen.

And you're fine, Z-8 is a spray sealant.

For what purpose would you be reapplying, then?

OK, I think I got it now. Z-2/Z-5 for those who want to add protection and then forget about it for a while. Then you can add additional protection and gloss with Z-8 every now-n-then if you want to. Or, just use Z-8 as your protectant, but it's durability alone will not be the same as Z-2/Z-5.

Um...you're kind of paraphrasing me, I would go with your base of Z-2/Z-5, as you have. If you can maintain with Z-7/Z-8, keep it going as long as you can (or until you get bored) and start over again.

The regimen you described (skipping Z-2/Z-5) would best be done with Z-CS.
