Zaino/Duragloss durability?

I have been a Zaino user for the last few years but am looking for something comperable but less expensive. The Duragloss product line looks good to me, but I haven't seen too much regarding durability. I would be interested in the experiences (not so much opinions) of those of you who have used BOTH products--is Duragloss as durable as Zaino ?

I haven't used either except for the Duragloss Aquawax, but from what I've read, the durability and looks of Duragloss is certainly comparable to Zaino for a lower price. If money is a problem, I wouldn't hesitate to switch to Duragloss if I were you.

interesting u should bring this topic up, because i am looking to combine duragloss and zaino in my next detail - should be interesting to see what happens :)

but if u have a quick search, you will find that alot of people seem to conclude that the 105with aquawax gives excellent durability

I have used both lines for many years. I am not using Zaino any longer, and am using DG products. I can tell you from experience that the DG 105 TPP is roughly as durable as the comparable Z sealants (Z2 or Z5). I am getting about 5-6 months from 105, which is also what I used to get out of Zaino. So, I get the same great durability, fantastic looks, at a much lower price point. I win!

I've used both. From my experience Z5pro/Z2pro have more consistant beading charactarisitics and wash cleaner than Duragloss. Even ZAIO washes clean after the beading quits. Z also looks better. Duragloss is probably the best OTC(if you have a Carquest near you) product line. Zaino is a better product line if you are willing to spend the extra money. You can't go wrong with either one tho.

Saying Z looks better seems awfully subjective doesnt it? Looks are purely an opinion. I too believe that Zaino is a better product line, but comparing with the $$$ involved, it is hard to argue against DG.

Do you use the DG 601 Bonding Agent or do you just wait 24 hours between coats of DG105? I am gradually going to switch over as I use up my Z products in order to save a few $$$ as I can get DG products over the counter at my local NAPA (have to order them but they arrive in 24 hours). Picked up the CWC today. Plan to use 105 after a coat of ZAIO for the time being once my Z2 is gone. Do you think these two products will work OK together? Thanks!!!

Yes, you can certainly use PBA with the 105. PBA is formulated to be used with all the DG sealants. It will ensure better bonding of the 105 to the paint and increase durability slightly. I currently use 105 without the PBA and still experience great durability, so I personally believe that PBA is not an absolute necessity to get great durability from the DG sealants.

You will be fine using 105 after ZAIO. ZAIO contains no oils and therefore 105 will have no difficulty bonding over it. I am willing to bet you will really like the 105, probably as much as the Z you were using. ;)

Regards,

Mike

Agreed, DG is the obvious price winner. As for most on this forum cost isn't the overiding concern or they wouldn't be ordering new products every month or two.

In my experiences Nothing lasts as long as Zaino. I have tested Zaino against a lot of the popular brands. What I will say is that DG has better durability than most other products. If there wasn't Zaino and I wanted looks and durability I would use DG.
