Zaino and non-Z QD's Compatibility?

Starting to get intrigued by the Z line. Read through their web site and seems pretty straight forward.

Question I have for y'all is regarding compatibility with non Zaino QD's... sure, it is probably best to use their branded QD's but what have you guys found that also works well?

Here are the QD's that I have, so naturally I'd also like to know if you have experience with these and the Z products...

UGE, HGAS, S&G, WG Spritz & WG Sealant Spritz.

Thanks!

I use all sorts of QDs with Zaino. Yes it is best to use Z6 but for as much QD as I go through its not worth it to me. I generally apply coat of Z8 every day or two. With any quality sealant according to Mike Phillips at Megs, it will bond over the QD. If it worries you that much just do a quick wipe down with Poorboys spray and wipe or DP's 4 and 1 and it will remove the QD. QDs typically dont bond to the paint for very long, day or two tops IME.

if you wash the QD will be gone

Ditto.

Zaino will work with all the QD's you have. I still suggest getting the Z6 and Z8.

A wonderful combo is Menzerna Hi-gloss and Z6 in a 1:1 ratio over cured Z. :wow:

All that is needed to remove the QD's you have is your normal wash (Z7 best) if you plan on applying another coat or two. :bigups

I have to agree. Using Z-6 and Z-8 is part of the appeal to me of the Zaino system. Z-8 can practically restore the shine to "just applied sealant" status. It smells good too. :)

I think that Z6 is one of the best QDs anyway and that Z8 is a better gloss enhancer better than Z6!!!

In short, my understanding from what most people are saying is that the Zaino produces are two of the best quick detailing/gloss enhancing products (i.e. Z6 & Z8) on the market whether or not you're using other Zaino products.

Just started using Zaino for the first time this week. After a few uses, I am getting the hang of Z (mixing, prep, prep, prep, thin, thin, thin). I have the Z-6 and the Z-8. Best to get them both. Zaino don't like oils so stay away from any carnauba or silicone laden QD. I've used Meg #34 FI. It's an alcohol based QD. It seems to be compatible.

blkZ28Conv...thanks for the Menzerna HGAS and Z-6 tip. Will have to try it out down the road. Wonder if 1Z Raindance will work as well mixed with Z-6?

I ony use Z8, actually I really don't use Z6 except for my dash. I use Z8 inplace of Z6 for final wipe down and in between coats. I really don't care about price I want the best. And as much as I use Z8 for me its really economical, I just started using my second bottle since it came out. I use it every week too.

jmsc be careful with the #34 because of the alcohol. Alcohol will remove Zaino in high enough concentrations. #34 probably will NOT harm your Zaino entirely, but be careful.

On the positive side of #34 is that it is my favorite QD for claying because of its stripping and great lube abilities.

I have some Euro 1Z Raindance lackfinish that Jose' sent me from Spain a couple of years ago and as you pointed out HGAS and Raindance may be interchange. :nixweiss

Z8 is the bomb, champagne, icing on the cake, the cats meow, etc, etc when using the Zaino system. Layering has become a thing of the pass to get that "just applied Z look" after a wash. Just Z8 the finish and spend more time polishing the wheels and dressing the tires :hifive:

OK, thanks for the tips... today I ordered the Z-Kit1 that includes ZFX, Z-2 Pro, Z-5 Pro, Z-6, Z-7, Z-18 clay bars, and some freeby applicators and a Z sticker. I also ordered a Z-8 !!!

Should be enough to get me going. She whether I'll become a Z fan or not.

From a durability standpoint, which should be more durable Z6 or Z8? Also, if I go the HGAS/Z6 combo how would you compare the durability vs straight Z6 & Z8?

Durability is awfully important for me since I drive lots daily, including back roads with lots of bugs, etc. So, I'd sacrifice some show-quality looks for some additional durability.

Z8 is definitely the way to go for added durability. Z8 is actually a spray sealant for Zaino's Z2PRO and Z5PRO.

Durability of the HGAS/Z6 is just started to test for initial durability of the enhancement. Remember Z sealant is underneath for the true protection of my finish.

Bugs just do not stick to Zaino if not allowed to bake on too long. A good hosing will remove most and a bucket wash the remainder. Zaino is not "steel" but is rather good for protecting a finish from environment assaults, if cared for in a timely manner.

Another bright point about Zaino is that one doesn't have to give up "Show Car" appearance for durability. :woohoo:
